3rd Grade Road Trip News
February 18-22
Family Focus
As a family, talk about what this month means and choose someone that you feel has made great strides and should be honored during this special month. Have your child do some quick research on this person and find out some interesting facts about them and why have made such a big impression in our lives. You could have them look up a quote that the person has said and explain what the quote means. They can bring it or the facts to their teacher on a piece of paper to earn stars on our classroom star chart. As always, please take a selfie in some form or fashion and send it to their teacher showing that your family participated in this Family Focus.
*YouTube has many books or short videos that would be great for Black History Month with your supervision. I searched "Black History Month for kids." You can also find information about this month in the school-wide newsletter, where Mrs. Brown talks about BrainPop, which is a great resource.
SPELLING
*You can also find their words in their planner written to the side each week.*
Principle: Students will spell complex contractions.
Spelling Words: he'd, don't, you've, wouldn't, she'll
Word Wall Words: already, didn't, hour, person, ready
Click on the link below for a menu of activities you can do at home with spelling words. Make sure that they aren’t just memorizing words. They also need to think of other words that have the same pattern or rule. They will be given words on the test they have not seen before but follow the same pattern.
*For each activity done at home that is turned in to your reading teacher, you will get one star on your chart. :)
This week in....
