What is Groundhog Day
According to folklore, if it is cloudy when a groundhog emerges from its burrow on this day, then the spring season will arrive early, some time before the vernal equinox; if it is sunny, the groundhog will supposedly see its shadow and retreat back into its den, and winter weather will persist for six more weeks.
Purpose of Outing
Learning Objectives: As a result of attending this outing, students will:
- Learn about the history of Ground hog day
- Older students will learn will be volunteers to assist others with their activities.
- Students will listen to funny stories about groundhog's day
- Students will learn about animal hibernation and survival methods
- Participate in a hands on project to benefit the community.

If you have colored pencils, crayons or markers that you would like to bring along, please do. I will have supplies but if you wish to bring some of your own that is fine.
Reminder for PA Virtual Events
1: In consideration of our students with serious allergies, please refrain from bringing nut (food) products and balloons.
2: As always, to limit the spread of possible flu, please do not attend a PAVCS event if you have had a fever within 24 hours of the event.
3: For safety: All students need to be accompanied by a parent or learning coach. All students must wear shoes/sneakers for the entire school event and please refrain from bringing pets.
4: If there is a possibility of severe weather, please check Blackboard the day of the event in case the event is cancelled due to weather.
5: All PAVCS events are tobacco free.
