Letter from Mrs. Trent, Principal
Our kids are working on their academic success and will soon be getting report cards. The first thing to remember is that the child’s report card is the child’s…not ours. While it’s easy to get down on ourselves when kids perform poorly, it’s very important to our mental health and theirs to remember the following:
1. We cannot learn for kids. As educators and parents, we can up the odds of high achievement by modeling responsibility, establishing a safe and calm environment, providing excellent instruction and demonstrating excitement for learning.
2. We cannot control every action they take or decision they make. It’s comforting to remember that some of the world’s most successful people have struggled with grades. Albert Einstein, Henry Ford, Jim Fay and Dr. Foster Cline are some notable examples. What is most important is that our children develop good character, curiosity and problem-solving skills.
3. Many highly successful people struggled with grades as children. If we can consistently demonstrate empathy rather than anger or frustration, the odds of them overcoming their difficulties dramatically increase!!
We want our students to reach their highest potential academically, socially and emotionally. We are proud of every success and celebrate our amazing students every day!

School Improvement Plan Goal: Increase Attendance
Attendance is important! In order for students to reach their highest potential, we encourage students to come to school each day- all day. Coming to school on time helps students have the opportunity to eat breakfast, unpack their backpacks, and get ready to learn. Academic instruction begins promptly in the morning. Staying in school all day enables students to keep on track with their academic goals. Last year, the school-wide student attendance average was 95%. This year, our goal is to earn a 96% school-wide attendance average. Please help your child reach his/her highest potential by coming to school each day.
Students with "Perfect Attendance" during Quarter 1 will be recognized! Students with no days absent and less than 3 days late will earn a ribbon and gift certificate. They will also have their names displayed in the cafeteria and on their classroom doors.
