What does a School Counselor do?

  • Counsel individuals, groups, parents, staff, and community regarding concerns about family, friends, school, and grades including determining how to problems solve.
  • Provide and support prevention programs including violence prevention, conflict resolution, anti-bullying strategies, peer mediation, and character education.
  • Work with staff to monitor student progress.
  • Implements developmentally appropriate prevention-oriented group activities to meet students’ needs and school goals
