Thank you at all the Parents that attended our Back to School Night!

It was great to meet so many of our BHS parents last night. We want to thank staff for everything they did to make the evening a success. Special thank-you to our Fine Arts students for providing the entertainment, our Culinary students for the delicious, homemade cookies, NHS students and Student Ambassadors for helping parents navigate the hallways, and our food service provider, Quest, for the amazing foodline samples and coffee.
If you could not attend, or you missed the video presentation last night, we have linked the announcement video presentation created by Dr. Doles BHS TV students, which highlights some important changes for the 2019 - 2020 school year.

FINANCING A COLLEGE EDUCATION

All families of Seniors and Juniors are invited to our "Financing a College Education" Program on Thursday, September 19th at 7:00PM in the BHS Auditorium. Our guest presenter is Jerry Cebrzynski, Associate Vice President for Financial Aid at Lake Forest College. Any questions? Contact Mrs. Priola

PSAT/NMSQT - October 16th

The "touch of fall" we had this week reminded us that fall testing isn't all that far off (ok, it's not until mid-October) but for our Juniors, it's a big deal with lots of potential scholarship money on the line. All Juniors will take the PSAT/NMSQT on Wednesday, October 16, 2019, with a chance to earn National Merit scholarships. National Merit scholarships are a prestigious resume builder and financial boost.
More information regarding testing will follow.
October 16, 2019, will be a regular attendance day for Freshmen, Sophomores and Seniors.

B Strong Together

BStrong Together is a 501(c)3 organization created to support parents, children and youth, community members and others impacting the lives of Barrington area children in our shared goal of raising happy, healthy, resilient children. It is a great resource for both families in crisis and families coping with the everyday issues of raising kids. The monthly e-newsletter is full of helpful links on timely issues, as well as events like guest speakers and monthly conversation circles (grouped by specific child ages.) As one High School Conversation Circle participant said, "“The greatest strength of the program is getting to know one another and sharing the struggle. Everyone is beginning to accept that there are often no right answers, but we go home more confident and informed about our parenting approaches.”

The next BStrong Together event will be:

“Anxiety in Children and Teens: Symptoms and Interventions"

Parent Coffee Wednesday, Sept. 25th at 9:30-11:00 am at the Campus Life Center

located at 150 S. Lageschulte Street in Barrington

Helping children stress less is difficult in today's high-pressure world. Join our experts as we talk about what is normal anxiety versus anxiety disorders in children and adolescents, and what parents can do to help.
