Spring 3
A Message From Principal Callaghan
Dear WHS Community,
I trust the recent spring weather has made many of you realize how lucky we are to be living in New England. A day of fresh, cold air followed by one that is full of sunshine and warmth. Either way, it keeps us on our toes, as well as joining in the march to Summer.
You will notice this newsletter is dedicated to many upcoming community events. As we can all attest in some fashion or another, fun and healthy interactions with the community allow us to feel more connected to our town and the people in it. The connection that comes with being in a community such as Westborough can provide the kind of support and encouragement for folks when they need it most. A truly wonderful aspect of the Town.
Please take a look at some of the fun and positive events coming up in Westborough that are connected to WHS and our schools.
Enjoy,
Brian Callaghan
Please help WEF's Gratitude Garden Grow
Westborough Education Foundation is celebrating Teacher Appreciation Week (which is May 3rd - 7th) by growing a Gratitude Garden. This is a fundraiser and community effort to thank our dedicated Westborough teachers and staff. WEF has set goals for the number of pinwheels they are hoping to see at each school (see below). The goal is to grow a field of flower pinwheels that will make us all say “WOW” and really show the teachers how much they are appreciated!
With this final push, we are suggesting that each family consider donating one pinwheel per family ($5 for each pinwheel) by going to www.westborougheducationfoundation.com which will allow WEF to offer more grants to Westborough teachers.
Westborough Public Library - Adopt-a-Senior Program
The Westborough Public Library is excited to host the 2021 Adopt-A-Senior Project. The goal of the project is to shower our high school seniors with some extra love. It’s been a stressful year with so many changes and cancellations. Let’s show them that we’re thinking of them and so very proud of them.
Here’s How You Can Help:
- Adopt a Senior:There are over 300 high school seniors that will need to be adopted. You can select a specific senior from over 100 posted in a closed Facebook group or choose to adopt one of the 200 seniors who have chosen to remain anonymous.
- Facebook Option: Beginning on May 1, you can join the Westborough Adopt a Senior page and scroll through the list of available seniors. Once you have selected a senior, send an email to WestboroAdoptASenior21@gmail.com to confirm your choice. Here is the link to join the Facebook group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/196997068481194
- Anonymous Option: Complete this form and you will be matched with a senior. Please consider this option since there are so many seniors who are in this category.
What’s Involved with Adopting:
Adopters are asked to put together a special care package for their senior. The goal is to spread some extra sunshine...NOT spend a lot of money. We suggest some candy and a gift card to a local favorite. ALL adopters are asked to bring their gifts to the Westborough Public Library during the last week of May. Library staff will make sure seniors get their gifts during the week prior to graduation.
The goal of this project is to show our graduating seniors how much the whole community is proud of them and how much they will be missed. The library is guaranteeing that EVERY participating senior will be adopted. Please consider adopting a senior you may not know to help us achieve this goal.
