Eagle Express
LHS Staff Newsletter--Year 18, Vol. 1, 08/27/2018
Fri-YAY
Thanks for a great first day of our 2018 inservice week. It was so good to have the family back together again. We are working with School Plant on the various AC issues around the building--especially those in the areas where we have meetings planned this week. Thanks for your patience with the high temps in our meetings on Friday.
Don't forget we have several opportunities for folks to connect and learn more about each other:
- Eagle Bingo--if you didn't get a playing card on Friday, extras are in the mailroom. Bring your completed card to Friday's staff meeting for a chance to win fabulous prizes.
- Photo Booth--grab some colleagues and come down to pose for the camera.
- Ball Pit--crawl in the pit with a colleague and share your answers to the questions you find.

Staff LiveBinder
The staff LiveBinder has a plethora of information for your use. To access the LiveBinder click here. The access code is Eagles. Some sections are still in process as the changes have not yet been posted on the division website, but when updates are posted to the binder they are immediately available to you. The most recent additions are the presentation from Friday's department meeting with the assistant principals and the missing assignment instructions.
If there is something you think needs to be in the LiveBinder, please let Dr. Askew know.
Eagle Nation Orientation
On Wednesday, August 29, from 2:00 to 5:30, approximately 500 rising Freshman and New-to-the-Nest Eagles will be on campus getting their first taste of Landstown High School. If you are willing to volunteer to help out that day, you will find available opportunities for Eagle Faculty and Staff here. Thanks so much for helping to make the First Impression of the Nest unforgettable!
Freshman Advisors are asked to be in the cafeteria from 1:50-2:10 and to stand at their pre-assigned Advisory group’s table. Your task is just to greet the students and help the mentors with the check-in process. Freshman Advisors will again be needed in their Advisory classroom from 2:35-2:55 when the mentors and freshman come in to get their schedule and t-shirt. Advisors will assist the student mentors with this process. We also ask that Freshman Advisors report to the cafeteria at 4:50 when your group exits the Spirit Assembly and sits down for dinner. Again, just say hello to your group one final time and wish them well.
All advisory classes are listed in Synergy. If your schedule does not show one, it means you are paired with someone else. Every faculty member has an advisory class. We will email all teachers who are paired with other staff members after we discuss Advisory in more detail during one of tomorrow’s Nuts and Bolts sessions.
Back-to-School Night
Immediately following our Eagle Nation Orientation on Wednesday, 8/29, we will welcome our parents and guardians to our annual Open House event. Parents will report directly to their student's Block 1A classroom where a brief video giving an overview of the evening and information from the PTSA. A link to the video will be emailed on Tuesday and an announcement will be made on Wednesday night indicating the appropriate time to begin the video. You can find a draft of the Open House schedule here.
Block 1A teachers will receive a few copies of the PTSA legislative ballot to give to parents who are interested in voting. These ballots should be returned to the PTSA mailbox.
All sponsors and coaches are asked to have a display in the cafeteria so our parents and students can see the many opportunities available at the Nest. Please let Mr. Siock know how much space your group will need. Remember . . . we never get a second chance to make a first impression.
OneLunch Sign-Ups
You can sign up for office hours here. Sign up for your two duties here. Please remember to do this by 3 p.m. on Tuesday (8/28) or duties will be assigned to you. Thanks!
