Alumni Highlight
Raymon Behlmer graduated from Oak Harbor High School in 2017. While attending Oak Harbor High School, Raymon participated in football, basketball, and tennis. He traveled with the Spanish class to Costa Rica during his Junior year of High School. Five days after graduation, Raymon left for Army Basic Training at Fort Sill, Oklahoma. Raymon then went on to complete his Army 68W Combat Medic AIT training at Fort Sam Houston, Texas, where he graduated as a Combat Medic. Currently, Raymon currently is stationed at Fort Campbell, Kentucky. In October 2019, Raymon traveled to California for emergency medical deployment training, and had the honor of meeting and showing the hospital to our US Surgeon General Jerome Adams. In January 2020, Raymon was one of five Soldiers from the 531st Hospital Center who was accepted into the Green to Gold program and received the Green to Gold Active Duty Option Scholarship. Raymon stated in a recent Fort Campbell Courier newspaper article “I had a plan that I wanted to become enlisted first and then have [the Army] pay for my school and become an officer.” Raymon has chosen to complete this 2-year program and earn a bachelor’s degree through Bowling Green State University, with the goal to become a commissioned officer, and then apply for the Health Profession scholarship program. He states “My plan for the future is to try to become a doctor for the Army…I see myself as an ER doctor for the Army, hopefully, able to deploy and help people overseas.”
