GRADE 1B: WE BELONG WHEN.....
Holy Family School is a community of Belonging and our students and staff know that it is everyone's responsibility to ensure that everyone has a deep sense of Belonging. Grade 1B shared the ways that they can make others feel like they Belong. Some of these ideas included being kind, sharing my toys, giving hugs, using manners, I am with my friends and when I invite others to play with me.
INTENTIONS FOR 2022-2023 SCHOOL YEAR
Families are asked to complete their online intentions for the 2022-2023 school year on PowerSchool. It is important that you complete your request as we are well into our staffing and classroom configuration planning for our school next fall. The information received will ensure that your child is counted in the decisions that are being made now for next year.
FATHER MICHAEL MIREAU FAITH DAY
Father Michael Mireau Day
Father Catfish (as he was affectionately known to ECSD students and staff) was our beloved district chaplain until his passing in 2014. Father Catfish brought joy to our communities by sharing his words that "God is Love" wherever he went.
Serve Like A Superhero
Father Catfish loved superheroes and Star Wars and he inspired our students through these connections to the work of God. We are challenged to serve others by his example and his teachings and his legacy lives on in our FMM Faith Day.
Virtual FMM Faith Day
Junior High students across the division participated in a virtual version of the Father Michael Mireau Faith Day on March 17th through prayer, song and stories.
GR 5 MUSICAL HANDBELLS
Our grade 5 students are putting on their soft gloves to learn the art of collaborative music using Brass Handbells. Thank you to Mrs. Narayanan, our students are given many opportunities to experience a variety of musical instruments, methods and songs.
GR1A - INVESTIGATING OUR SENSES - I can feel my name.
Grade 1 students are learning about their 5 senses in Science class. They experienced how their sense of touch can help them in many ways, even to read. After printing their own names in Braille, students felt how their sense of touch helps people who cannot see to read.
PARENT-TEACHER VIRTUAL INTERVIEWS
Our Parent-Teacher Interviews will be held virtually on April 7th. Kindergarten appointments are available between 9am-12pm and 1pm-4:30pm. Grades 1 - 9 interview times are from 1-4:30pm and 5:30-8:00pm.
Please be sure to check your email this week for more information and instructions on how to book your appointment with your child's teacher(s).
GR 9 SCIENCE - SOLUTIONS
Our grade 9 students continue their exploration of their learning by experimenting with a variety of solutions to assist in identifying substances they were presented with. Utilizing solutions such as Benedict's solution, Iodine and Biuret solution, students observed what would happen if they added these solutions to substances. Knowing that colors of the solutions changed in response to the presence of substances such as glucose, protein or starch, students were able to confirm the substance.
BADMINTON TEAM NEWS
This year, more than 60 students came out to our Badminton team tryouts! In the end, our team is only permitted to have 8 players and 2 back up players, so the decisions were tough to make. We thank all of the students who came to tryout and congratulate them on their hard work. Our team will begin their season next week with practices. Games against other ECSD schools will begin right after spring break!
