Job Responsibilities:
The responsibilities are to operate the heart-lung machine while the cardiac surgeon is working on a surgery. The heart-lung machine is a device that pumps the patients blood into there heart while it is stopped for open heart surgery.
Work Environment:
A cardiac perfusionist works in the hospital and in the operating room mostly, they do not have as much office work as doctors or nurses so they do not have to work in an office as much.
What do they have to do to qualify for the job:
In order to be considered for this job you must have a 4 year Bachelors degree. There is no specific undergraduate degree but it is suggested to take Biology.
How much money can you expect to make:
If you are new into the job and haven't been working for a while you can expect to make anywhere from 60,000 to 75,000 a year. If you have been working for longer and you work more often then you can expect on average to make anywhere from 75,000 to 100,000.
Interesting Facts:
Cardiac Perfusionist mainly work on heart surgeries but are always on call incase a certain surgery needs them.
