From Your Stated Clerk
This past Sunday Tom K asked me if I had a "secret or word of wisdom" for our successful marriage of 45 years. I said communication. Since then I've been thinking about other important words like commitment, compassion and cooperation. I saw all those qualities in my parents' marriage and assumed that every marriage was like that. I believe that most marriages do practice those concepts but sadly not all.
I also didn't realize how many second marriages have more difficulties than first ones. My Dad's father died when my Dad was a teenager and so his Mother remarried a man whose own wife had died far too soon. Our family not only accepted their new step-father, they treated him with the same love and respect they did their own mother. His name was Charles and in a rare moment I had with him alone, he said that marrying my grandmother was the best thing that had ever happened to him. My parents are buried in the same rural cemetery as my grandparents, so when we visit, I can smile as I recall what a great example of how families are supposed to behave. Yes, I am sure there were disagreements but I believe they were settled the right way.
So do you see your relationship with your church in terms of communication, commitment, compassion and cooperation? I believe we need to reflect on these ideas in fulfilling our roles within the church. With our continuing search for a Designated Pastor, our church is best served by each one of us examining our hearts as Tom K urged us to do last Sunday.
Blessings,
Ron K
Volunteers Needed for Heritage Sunday
Come Join the Excitement & Outreach on Heritage Sunday, October 16!
This year, our Heritage Sunday has a theme of “A Fruitful Harvest” which is a day to reflect upon our long and rich history together, and all that God has done here at OLCC,P. We are excited for this outreach opportunity and would like our church family to invite people from the community, prior members, family and friends of OLCC,P to join our “reunion.”
Thank you to all those who have already volunteered, but we still need more volunteers for a variety of positions to help us with the planning and execution, to bring a dish, and to help ensure success.
The volunteer and food signup sheets are located in the Lakeview Area.

We will learn under what circumstances the new Christians lived in a world that was filled with many gods under a leader that demanded complete loyalty.
We hope to learn more in depth how the comments and rebukes to these churches can help us today.
We will study the last three churches at another time in the near future. The classes are at church in person September 8, 15, 22, 29 and start at 1:00 pm. We hope you can join us for these classes.

Thursday Evening Bible Study Starting October 6
We're excited to announce this new Bible study, Where Do We Go from Here? How Tomorrow's Prophecies Foreshadow Today's Problems by Dr. David Jeremiah on Thursday evenings at 7:00 pm from October 6 through November 17, 2022.
Dr. Jeremiah takes us on a tour of today's major issues, showing us where we are, what current events mean, and what we as Christians should do next. We will look at seven issues from a scriptural viewpoint, threading our way through the problems Jesus predicted, and finding the solutions Jesus endorsed.
We will watch teaching by Dr. Jeremiah and then discuss one of these topics each week:
Globalism, Pandemic, Economic Chaos, The Falling Away, End Times People, Cancel Culture, Spiritual Famine.
Each in-person class will stand on its own, so if you can't always be with us, come whenever you can. All are welcome -- men and women. Don't miss this opportunity!
Questions? Contact the leader: Bonnie Horner, bnnhrn@yahoo.com
