PTO News
If you’ve not yet donated to our school fundraiser, please do so TODAY – and don’t forget to include how you’d like your name listed on our donor web page! THIS IS OUR MAIN FUNDRAISER THIS YEAR.
We are not able to host our annual Jag Color Jog fundraiser, which brought in over $15,000 last year to support and enrich the student experience at LMS. Instead, we are asking for donations via this attached letter.
Please donate if you are able, and share this with any grandparents, neighbors, and friends who may also be inclined to support your child(ren). Any donation is greatly appreciated!

THIS WEEK’S TOP STORIES
INTERIM REPORTS
Interim Reports will be distributed this week to our students in the building, and any student who is failing a class will receive their Interim Report in the mail next week. If your student is a remote learner and you would like a copy of his/her Interim Report, please contact the school and we will mail one to you.
Reality Store
On Wed. and Thurs., we will provide our 6th-grade students with the opportunity to experience the 'REALITY' of being an adult by visiting the Reality Store. The Reality Store exercise introduces students to the “realities” associated with adulthood— provisions of food, clothing, shelter, transportation, etc. for a family and how these relate to career choices. Upon arrival at the Reality Store, students receive the equivalent of one month’s salary for the career they have been assigned. The students will go through the “store” purchasing housing, transportation, child care, etc. By the end of the activity, students usually see a relationship between career, lifestyle, and education (and, often want to 'give back' their children and pets because they realize how much they cost). Take the opportunity this week to discuss with your 6th grader the ‘realities’ of life and their plans for the future.

BLAST - Building Leaders for Advancing Science and Technology offers an exciting way for rising 9th and 10th grade students to spend three days of summer! Participating students get to stay in a college dorm and see what campus life is like on-site at one of our three partner universities: Old Dominion University, Virginia Tech, or the University of Virginia. Each day of BLAST is jam-packed with science, technology, engineering, and math-related (STEM) activities and demonstrations led by faculty of the university. Students come away from BLAST with a greater sense of curiosity, deeper insight about the variety of careers that exist in STEM, and enhanced readiness for advanced STEM programs. Click the links provided to watch videos from past BLAST sessions. You will find more information about the program, as well as the online application, through the tabs above.

This Week in SEL/Homeroom
This week in Homeroom: We continue our conversations about The Reality Ride and begin to dialogue about what people in our lives can help support us when we try to stay on the “harder but worth it” track toward our goals. We are also talking about what it looks like when we find ourselves stuck in a loop on the “easy, fast track” and what we can do to change course.
For further conversations with your student: Consider extending these topics further as you interact with your students this week at home. When is a time they may have felt “stuck”?" What/who helped them at that time? What goals are they trying to move toward right now?
Can you help? Just answer a quick question below? Participants will be entered into a drawing for a family gift each quarter. There are only a couple of weeks left to play this round.
