Gold'n'Blues Produces Incredbile Music Video

Tamanend’s smallest select chorus, Gold’n’Blues, has taken advantage of their time at home to produce a music video for one of the songs they performed earlier this year. The audio and video were recorded on phones and then compiled by Tamanend alumni Connor Martin (9th Grade 2011 – audio editing and mixing) and Ben Cerauli (9th Grade 2016 – video editing). Everyone is proud of the result! Check it out HERE!

Reminder--Parent/Student Infinite Campus Portal is Open

Parent Portal and Student Portals in Infinite Campus went live this week. Students are aware of the work they have been completing and submitting and they are receiving feedback and grades
directly from teachers throughout this process. The opening of the portals allows both students and parents to have access to in-progress gradebooks. We recommend that students and parents review the grading section of Infinite Campus on a weekly basis. If any inaccuracies are identified, please reach out to your child's teacher and/or guidance counselor in order to rectify the problem. Information regarding CB Distance Learning grading was previously shared and can be found here: Secondary Grading

Reminder--Retrieving Items Students Left at Tamanend

We realize that most students have personal items in lockers and classrooms at Tamanend. Plans for the retrieval of items left behind in the buildings are being finalized at this time. We are coordinating with the district’s Facilities and Energy Management Operations department in an effort to distribute all personal items by the end of the month. Priority was placed on retrieving critical items like medication and eyeglasses. This work will be done in keeping with direction from the governor’s office. More specifically, we are awaiting additional detail on when stay at home orders will be lifted for the County of Bucks. Please note, all district grounds (fields, stadiums, tennis courts, basketball courts, playgrounds, etc.) remain closed at this time.

Central Bucks School District Distance Learning Survey

Central Bucks School District sent out an email blast on Tuesday, May 5 asking parents to complete a survey to provide feedback on Distance Learning up to this point. We have included it here as well to ensure that our parents have the opportunity to complete it if they choose: www.cbsd.org/dlpsurvey.

Student Assistance Program (SAP)

Reminder--Help is Down the Hall

The Tamanend Student Assistance Program (SAP) Team is a group of trained faculty members who can connect students with appropriate help and resources if they show signs of struggling with mental health concerns or alcohol/substance use. If you notice concerns such as major changes in behavior or mood, drop in achievement, or use of drugs or alcohol, then you may consider a SAP referral. When the team receives a referral, we gather more information to determine if there is a need for intervention and further assessment. The information is confidential, and the process is for the purpose of offering help. Anyone can refer a student about whom they are concerned. Referrals can be made at this referral link or by contacting a SAP team member:

Mrs. Barlow, Mrs. Cammann, Sra. Corsino, Mr. Dudley, Mr. Heisey,

Mr. Klein, Mrs. Myrtetus, Ms. Scheffey, & Mrs. Szagola

Communicating Absences

You may report your child's absence in any of the following ways:

Visit Our Nurse's Office Distance Learning Page!

Central Bucks School District is closely monitoring the CDC’s recommendations as well as those from the Pennsylvania Department of Education, the Pennsylvania Department of Health, and the Bucks County Health Department. You may review the latest recommendations from the CDC on their website at www.cdc.gov. At this time, the best advice is to practice the same common-sense preventative measures that are recommended every cold and flu season, including proper hand washing and staying home when sick.

Distance Learning Technical Support

  • Logging in to Laptops: Students will use their FULL CB email address: (lastname.firstinitial###@student.cbsd.org) & password to log into the laptop. Your classroom teacher can help you with the log-in information. You can also email our support team.

  • Updating Devices: To allow your computer to be completely up to date after the handout, CBSD will be sending updates to the computers that could cause a random restart. Please make sure to have autosave turned on by creating new documents through Office 365 on the web so you do not lose work.

  • Device Having Issues: Restarting your computer will solve many computer issues. Please restart twice before reaching out for tech support. Click here to submit a Help Ticket.

  • Broken Hardware: We will attempt to have frequent drive through hardware support for our staff and students. In the event that device peripherals (pens, chargers, batteries, etc.) stop working or need replacement, families and staff do not need to purchase them through MyPaymentsPlus at this time. These devices can be bought directly from Amazon or a retailer of your choosing. A list of supplies can be found here: https://www.cbsd.org/Page/5150

CB Cares and CBSD Present an Online Parent Positive Event - Watch On-Demand May 15-May 29

With COVID-19 giving many of us downtime at home with our families, we invite the Central Bucks community to take this opportunity to watch SCREENAGERS NEXT CHAPTER: Uncovering Skills for Stress Resilience. This special edition includes a brief introduction by the filmmaker Dr. Delaney Ruston, plus a pre-recorded Q&A with her after the film, where she responds to some of the most frequently asked questions about the topics covered in the film. Filmmaker and physician Dr. Delaney Ruston takes the conversation around screens and teens to the next level with Screenagers NEXT CHAPTER: Uncovering Skills for Stress Resilience—a film that examines the science behind teen’s emotional challenges, the interplay of social media, and most importantly, what can be done in our schools and homes to help them build crucial skills to navigate stress, anxiety, and depression in our digital age.

In Screenagers NEXT CHAPTER, we follow Delaney as she finds herself at a loss on how to help her own teens as they struggle with their emotional wellbeing. She sets out to understand these challenges in our current screen-filled society, and how we, as parents and educators, can empower teens to overcome mental health challenges and build emotional agility, communication savvy, and stress resilience.

We witness Delaney as she finds her way from ineffective parenting to much-improved strategies. We follow other personal stories of families from an array of backgrounds with a spectrum of emotional challenges. We also observe approaches in schools that provide strategies relevant beyond the classroom setting. Interwoven into the stories are surprising insights from brain researchers, psychologists, and thought leaders that reveal evidence-based ways to support mental wellness among our youth. The impact of social media and other screen time is incorporated in all the topics raised in Screenagers NEXT CHAPTER, how it may be impacting our teens’ mental health, and what we can do to help foster youth in the face of struggles.
