Principal's Message
Orchard Families,
Welcome back from break! It was great to see the students back in class and engaged in classwork. We are relieved that the Covid levels are decreasing. We will continue to practice safe habits including with mask wearing and hand washing at school.
Book Fair
We're excited to invite you to our upcoming Scholastic Book Fair. Hosted by our staff, this event is an opportunity for students of all ages to build their home libraries and further their love of reading. As always, all purchases benefit our school. It will take place from March 1 - 4, 2022.
Uber Eats and Other Deliveries
We are asking parents to work with us around personal school deliveries. Unfortunately, we are unable for health, safety, and efficiency reasons to accept food and gift deliveries for students. No Uber Eats for students or like food deliveries will be accepted during the school day. Items that are dropped off by parents like balloons, flowers, etc., may be given to students at the end of the day if and when possible. Thank you so much for helping us decrease distraction and minimize the numbers of unfamiliar adults on site.
Spring pictures are tomorrow, March 1, 2022. All grade levels may take pictures; they should have their forms completed. The 8th grade class picture will also be taken.
Remind students to check lost and found; we have many coats, hats, and water bottles still on site.
Sincerely,
Marie Roberts, Principal

Update On Parent Meeting - March 14, 2022
]We deeply value the time we get to meet with our families and share updates, and listen to questions. We also want to make sure that the time is valuable for all of us. We were waiting to learn more about the updates related to COVID and the county guidance, but the information is gradually being released. As such, we will postpone tomorrow's meeting for two more weeks. The parent meeting will be held on March 14th at 5:00 pm. We will send a link for the meeting out next week.

Orchard Art Students Meet Teen Artist Tyler Gordon
Tyler has faced many struggles; he is partially deaf, stutters, and has a vitamin D deficiency that weakens his bones. At one point, Tyler spent time in a wheel chair because of the deficiency. According to Tyler, art has supported him through his struggles. He has completed well over 2500 paintings. Today his art is widely recognized. Time Magazine focused one of his paintings on the cover.
In his own words, "I am also a 15 year old artist that seeks to inspire through hero stories in my work."
The Orchard art students were able to take home their art work and a signed copy of Tyler's new book, We Can: Portrait of Power.
