CB East Marching Band Notes
November 18, 2013
Important Trip Information and Future Planning
Even though the competitive marching season and football season have come to a close, there are still a lot of things happening around our organization. Please read through the information provided carefully and be sure to email Mr. Morehouse or one of the band parent association officers/chairpersons if you have questions.
Packing for Nashville
We will end rehearsal a little earlier tomorrow, November 19. At approximately 4:30 we will load the equipment truck with everyone's instruments and luggage. Students should only to plan to bring a small carry-on bag when we travel on Thursday. We will not check luggage at the airport.
Students should bring collapseable music stands, music, and instruments in addition to their regular luggage. Also, don't forget to review the itinerary and pack appropriate clothing, including our new band polo shirts and black pants/shoes for the performances.
All medications will be administered by a staff member on the trip. Students will not be allowed to carry their own medication unless it is emergency related (rescue inhalers, epi-pens, insulin, etc.). Medications should be brought at the end of practice on Tuesday and delivered to Mr. Morehouse. Medications should be clearly labeled with the student's name, dosage, and prescribing physician. We will bring standard over the counter medications and students should not bring their own. Also, students who take a regular over the counter medication, like zyrtec or claritin, should also deliver their medications to Mr. Morehouse at the end of Tuesday's practice.
Joe Corbi's Pizza Delivery
The orders placed earlier this month will arrive tomorrow, November 19. Orders can be picked up at the end of practice. We will use the orchestra room, next to the band room, to distribute the orders.
New Polo Shirts
Almost everyone has picked up their new polo shirt for our performances. Thank you to everyone who has turned in their $15 payment for the shirts. If you have not done so, please make checks payable to CB East Band Parents Association and turn them in by the end of practice on Tuesday, November 19.
Preparing for the Flight
Please help your son or daughter prepare for security checks at the airport. Visit the following links to the Transportation Security Administration's website to learn more about the security check process. The most important things to know relate to acceptable identification and acceptable items packed in a carry-on bag. Students who have government issued military or driver's identification should carry them. Otherwise, student identification with a photo has also been acceptable when travelling with a school group. Finally, any student who plans to travel with a passport (not recommended) may bring their passport to Mr. Morehouse for safe-keeping while travelling.
Band Parent Association Meeting
We will be discussing the job assignments for the PMEA District 11 Instrumental Auditions at this meeting. Stay tuned for the sign-up genius to sign up as a volunteer for the event on Saturday, December 14. We need as many volunteers as we can get, and all of the students enrolled in concert and symphonic band at East are expected to help on the 14th.

Peddler's Village Christmas Parade
The marching band will meet at CB East at 12:00, perform at 1:30, and depart from CB East no later than 2:30. The parade route begins on Street Road next to Earl's, turns left just above the candy shop, and winds across the village to end at Giggleberry Fair. The band will lead some local organizations and Santa Claus through the village.

Mercer Museum Holiday Open House
The symphonic band will be performing in the Central Court shortly after we lead Santa Claus out to the log cabin at 7:00. Students performing in the event should dress nicely and warmly, and arrive at 6:00 for our dress rehearsal. This has become a favorite event for many people who follow the bands. We do some special selections and spread the ensemble throughout the entire central court area of the museum to create some really great antiphonal music. And it's a free evening of great local music and holiday festivities.

PMEA District 11 Instrumental Auditions
Pennsylvania Music Educators Association holds auditions for a very selective symphonic band and full orchestra consisting of the finest players from Bucks and Montgomery Counties. CB East hosts these auditions. There will be approximately 750 students auditioning on 25 different instruments that morning. We need every student in the concert band and symphonic band to assist, and all the parents who are available. Between directors, auditioning students, and volunteers, there will be over 1000 students involved in the day. Stay tuned for a sign-up genius link to volunteer.
