REQUESTS FOR CLASS PLACEMENT
Teachers and administrators go to great lengths to build classrooms of students who will work well together as a community of learners. When building these classes, we consider many things (e.g., class size, the numbers of boys and girls, Special Education, Extended Curriculum, English Language Learners, social/emotional needs, special learning needs, and unique academic and behavior issues). Balancing the classes is very important to us and to the success of the students.
Requests for class placement must be put in writing and addressed to Mrs. Klinsky. Requests may also be sent via email to BAKlinsky@d47.org. Please make the request based on specific needs you feel your child has and do not mention a specific classroom teacher’s name. The deadline for class placement requests is April 8th, 2022. All requests will be considered, but may not be granted due to the desire to balance the classes. The staff begins to work on these class lists the week of April 11th, requests after this time will not be considered. In July, the building administrators review the list and add new students who have moved into our school boundaries. The class lists will be posted in parentvue in August, the exact date is not known at this time. After class lists are posted, there cannot be any changes.
HEALTH OFFICE INFORMATION:
If you are planning to travel for spring break, here are a few things to keep in mind-
1. Stay hydrated, kiddos playing in the sun/swimming etc need extra water breaks throughout the day
2. While the sun might not feel super hot, harmful rays are making their way through clouds - apply sunscreen liberally throughout the day, wear a hat and don't forget sunglasses for the kids too!
3. A small first aid kit is a good idea as well.
A reminder about when to keep your student home from school -
Cold and Flu Season is Here; Helpful Hints from the Health Office
Here are some guidelines to help with your decision on whether or not to send your child to school. Please be advised that if your child has any of the symptoms listed below he/she should not attend school:
1. Fever > 100.4 2. Rash
3. Sore throat with fever 4. Nausea and vomiting
5. Occasionally diarrhea
If your child has recently been ill, please be aware of the following guidelines before having your child return to school:
1. He/she should be feeling fit for 24 hours before returning to school, athletic or social activities.
2. He/she should be free of a temperature for at least 24 hours without the use of over the counter fever reducing medication.
3. He/she should be free of vomiting and diarrhea for at least 24 hours.
4. He/she should be taking an antibiotic for at least 24 hours before returning to school.
5. He/she should be on prescription antibiotic eye drops for conjunctivitis for 24 hours before returning to school.
To help keep your child(ren) healthy, make sure they have plenty of rest and a good nutritious diet. Make sure they are dressed properly when playing out of doors. Please notify the school if your child has been diagnosed with strep throat, chickenpox, scarlet fever, etc.
The single most important thing you can do to keep your child free of illness is to teach him/her the proper way to wash hands. Make sure he/she uses soap and rubs his/her hands together for 15 seconds. Then rinse hands in running warm water and dry them thoroughly.
I hope you all enjoy the spring weather! Enjoy spring break whether traveling or staying local with family and friends ~ Mrs. Amanda Keegan, RN Ajkeegan@d47.org 815-788-5555
