Who should come and why?
All Third Grade Parents are encouraged to attend Parent Chat. It will explore, The Oklahoma Reading Sufficiency Act SB346, a bill that was enacted in 1997, but amended in 2011-2012. This amendment includes a third grade retention mandate for all third graders who score unsatisfactory on the reading portion of the statewide criterion-referenced test (CRT).
What can I expect?
Mrs. Gates, our principal, will discuss what the law means, the impact on our children, and what steps are being taken by teachers and administrators to prepare our children. Wendy Hardwick, Liberty parent and OKPTA Vice President of Advocacy, will discuss what actions we can take as parents. We will also share ideas on how you can help your child at home
