Restaurant Culture
In France, waiters and waitresses are considered professionals. In better restaurants, waiters and waitresses must not only be good servers but they must also be knowledgeable about food and wine. The very Fine, French Wine! Servers take great pride in their work. It is expected that diners will take time to enjoy their food, so service in french may seem slow to Americans. meal can last several hours.
Understatement!!!
In France they have a tendency to use understatements. For instance, if the food were bad, the might say "C'est pas terrible. Similarly, rather than saying something is good, they would say "C'est pas mauvais".
