A Note From Mrs. Esposito

Last week we celebrated Pi Day (3/14) in a unique way. On Tuesday students who demonstrated respect and responsibility earned special Wally tickets. These tickets, which could be divided into two, served as their admission to an assembly on Friday. The other half of the ticket was placed in a bag representing staff volunteers who were willing to have a whipped cream pie thrown in their face. This effort wasn't just for Pi Day, rather it was PBIS Blast with the intention to highlight the Wally Wildcat Way. The goal was to infuse energy into earning Wally tickets and to refocus the whole school on being responsible and respectful in all that we do.

The results were amazing. First, on Pi Day itself students were excited as they came to the main lobby with their Wally tickets. When asked how or why they earned their ticket, students were able to tell the adults what they had done that was responsible or respectful. Many students earned more than one ticket in the day! The smiles said it all!

On Friday we hosted two assemblies for the students. At our first assembly students in K-3 were able to pie our volunteers of; Ms. Ruzzini, Ms. Kain, Ms. Leahy, Mrs. O'Connell, Ms. Brown, Mrs. Beaver, Mr. Sands and Mrs. Esposito. At the second assembly the older students had a chance to pie Mrs. Dolph, Mr. Zalesky, Mrs. Schwenk, Ms. Janda, Mrs. Cates, Ms. Jennings and Mrs. Esposito. In total, over 60 pies were thrown to thunderous cheers and laughs from the students and staff. The students were reminded that being respectful and responsible is what we do at North Coventry, but when we all work together in demonstrating these behaviors, we can look forward to other fun events in the future.

Night of the Arts: Message from Mrs. Duffy, NC Art Teacher

Art Show Volunteers

Hello, amazing humans, also known as volunteers! The Night of the Arts date this year is Wednesday, May 3, 2023. It is a time for students to showcase their talents, share their voices, and have the community show their appreciation. In the few years I have been at North Coventry Elementary, I received nothing but fantastic support for the art program, and your children are growing in leaps and bounds with your help. You can be a great asset to your child’s art program. If you’re lucky, you may join our fantastic art star crew! In addition, I am looking for a few passionate parents/guardians who would like to help in the pre-staging of the art show area. Volunteering requires no experience, and I will have everything prepped for your success. Please contact me, Lisa Duffy, via email @ lduffy@ojrsd.net if you are inspired to help create a fantastic evening for your children. Please ensure you have updated clearances with our district to assist with volunteering within the school.

The following opportunities are available beginning on April 4, 2023:

  • Labeling & stapling the artwork (at home or here at school)

  • Mounting the artwork onto bulletin board paper (at school)

  • Creating large, fun banners announcing the Night of the Arts (at home or here at school)

  • Hanging the bulletin board papers with the artwork in the hallways, starting Apr 12, 2023 (at school)

  • Creating two balloon arches a few days before the event (at home or here at school)

  • Displaying the clay projects in the library on the day of the event (at school)

Thank you for your continued support throughout the year,

Lisa Duffy & Alyssa Cross

SchoolPay Issues - Message from District

Dear OJR Families,

We want to apologize for any recent confusion associated with the SchoolPay system and answer several questions we’ve received.

SchoolPay is currently running an update on its systems. As a result, student information is not populating or viewable when you log into the system to add funds to your child’s account. Please know that all of your information is still safe and secure in the SchoolPay system. While your child’s information can be found via a manual search, SchoolPay is working to have the information more easily visible as soon as possible.

We want to assure you that all students will continue to receive their normal school meals (breakfast and lunch) and that no child is being turned away for these meals while SchoolPay continues its update.

SchoolPay is working to resolve the issue and we will share additional information with all families as soon as we have an update.

We sincerely apologize for any confusion or concern caused by these recent happenings and appreciate your patience and understanding. We will share a status update with all families as soon as it becomes available. In the meantime, if you have any questions, please feel free to contact OJR Food Services directly at 610-469-5701.

Sincerely,

The Owen J. Roberts School District

In your email, make sure to include the event name and names of individuals in the picture(s). If possible, please send them in by the end of this month.

Parents/Guardians - Are you going out of town?

If you plan on being out of town and your student(s) will be in the care of someone else while you are gone, please make sure the school office is aware. In the case of an illness/emergency, the school needs to have the contact information for your child's caretaker. If we do not have them listed as an emergency contact we can not release your child to them. Thank you for your attention to this matter. Safe travels.
