Instructional Delivery Model Selection Dates
Allen ISD understands that families may want to change their instructional delivery model selection during the school year. Due to the scheduling complexities inherent in both At-Home Learning and In-Person Learning, parents are asked to make a commitment for at least one full nine-weeks grading period.
Please note that adjustments in instructional delivery model selections across the district may impact teacher assignments and student schedules.
Staff may need to shift to align with new instructional model choices. Therefore, even students who do not change instructional models could experience a change to their teacher(s), course availability or class schedule as teachers are assigned based on the numbers of students and course requests in each environment. Elementary students making changes to their instructional delivery model selection may not be guaranteed to be assigned to their home campus based on staffing and grade level seat availability.
The chart below outlines the timeframe for making a change in the selected instructional delivery model prior to the start of each new grading period. Parents wishing to change their child’s participation in either At-Home Learning or In-Person Learning for the next nine-weeks grading period will need to complete the Commitment Form. Information will be sent to all parents about the process to request a change. All changes will be effective on the first day of each new nine weeks grading period as listed below:

Please ensure that when you arrive at Chick Fil A at Twin Creeks Village, you let the cashier know that you are supporting Boyd Elementary Spirit Day BEFORE you place your order, this will ensure that our school will receive credit for it.
PTA needs your help!
Due to our current COVID guidelines, the PTA has been unable to grow our membership as we have traditionally done in the past. Our school benefits greatly from the PTA’s membership income each year.
Please consider joining our PTA for the 2020-2021 school year at joinpta.org for $10. Once at the website, click on the white “Join PTA” in the middle of the screen and then use the drop-down menus to find our school. Please let me know if you have any questions!
Free and Reduced Lunch Application
It is an unusual year due to coronavirus disruptions. Nevertheless, one thing has not changed, parents need to complete the Free and Reduced Lunch Application. This is important data because it can impact school funding from federal grants. The Title 1 federal grant provides our school with funding for additional staff and resources needed to meet the needs of all of our students.
- Information: Free and Reduced Lunch Storyboard for Parents in English and Spanish, https://www.esc16.net/page/title1swi._PFE.Video.FRL.Strybord.Parents
If you qualify for Free and Reduced Lunch, please assist our school in receiving the needed funding to meet the needs of all of our students by completing the Free and Reduced Lunch Application.

ALLEN STEAM AMBASSADORS TUTORING PROGRAM FOR 5TH & 6TH GRADERS
Allen STEAM Ambassadors (a student leadership program with a STEM/STEAM focus), provides a virtual tutoring service that was developed by the students in the program. The STEAM Ambassadors are top high school students that excel in science and math. The program was piloted a few weeks ago with 7th and 8th graders, and the response has been overwhelmingly positive.
Starting tomorrow it will be open to students grades 5th -9th grades needing support in math and science. While it is not a replacement for tutoring with their teacher, some virtual students could benefit from this type of one-on-one virtual support.
Details on the program as well as the required forms/materials are included on the attached flyer.
