How to Paraphrase then Cite:
Paraphrase Useful Items/Necessities: - Stop and reflect on what you read - Take notes on main ideas/facts - Don't use full sentences - Write only topic related details = Then paraphrase - Put away source - Write in your own words - Put only things you understand | Citations What you Do/Need: - Author and page number - No author? => Use title = Ex. "Quote" (Parks 7) - When using a quote, use " " and put cite after it in ( ) | Citations/Paraphrase Extra Information - Introduce and explain evidence in your own words - Cites are included in paper and on a separate paper after the paper is complete - Citations inside paper are in MLA format (in paper and on citation page) |

What is Plagiarism?
- Taking other's info/ideas/etc. and using them as your own. There are two types:
() Intentional: Copying and pasting work without permission and citing
() Unintentional: Too many quotes, poor paraphrasing/citations
- Kicked out of college (first punishment)
- Lose your job and recommendations to another job/college
- Sued by person who originally owned the idea, article, etc.
How to avoid plagiarism:
- Use quotation marks (make no change to the text and put name after)
- Paraphrase (write in your own words, show you understand the source, put cite after)
Methods of using other's work without plagiarism:
- Quote the author
- Paraphrase
- Summarize
