Principally Speaking
What a fantastic beginning of school we have had at Nashua Elementary! I can't remember a more successful start to a school year. I know we are going to have an awesome 2015-16 year!!
Our Stars have been working very hard the last couple of weeks learning routines, developing community, and focusing on learning new curriculum. The staff at Nashua have committed to providing each student with engaging educational experiences, exposing them to various types of literature, developing number sense and mathematical problem solving skills, along with challenging Science activities!
It is an honor to serve as the principal of Nashua Elementary! Thank you for trusting us with your children each day! If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact your child's teacher or myself directly.
As always, it's a great day to be a STAR!
~Mrs. Stukey

Classroom Guidance-An important part of the guidance program are the life skill lessons that are taught every other week in each classroom. In August we are reviewing/teaching procedures and getting to know the role of the counselor. In September, all grade levels will begin developmentally appropriate lessons on bullying and handling bullying situations.

A Message from Nurse Amber
We do not dispense medications of any type (prescription, cough medicine, aspirin, etc.) without a parent’s signature. In the interest of efficiency, physician’s signatures are not required when PRESCRIPTION medications are brought to school IN THE PRESCRIPTION CONTAINER with directions and a current date. The written instructions on the container must correspond with the instructions parents give the school. We will still need to have a MEDICATION FORM filled out by the parent to retain on file for the school year. If there is a change in the directions then you will need to get that change in writing, from the physician, or ask your pharmacist to make up a new container reflecting the updated directions. We will not accept any medication brought to the school in baggies or any container other than the original prescription bottle. CHILDREN ARE NOT ALLOWED TO BRING ANY MEDICATION TO SCHOOL WITH THEM. PARENTS MUST BRING ANY MEDICATION (EVEN OVER THE COUNTER MEDS) TO THE OFFICE.
Nashua Thanks our Business Partners!
Nashua is fortunate to have a local business, American Family Insurance, for a business partner. Tom LaFontaine actively sought out our school and offered to help in anyway they could. He along with his coworkers keep in close communication with the school to find out what needs exist and what they can do to help. Many families struggle to provide all the school supplies needed, and with the help of American Family, we have a supply ready on hand for those that need school supplies. Other items such as Kleenex, hand sanitizer, or other general supplies have been brought to school. They also bring gifts for all the staff. The items are too numerous to mention! They also have volunteered time at our school events and come to some PTA meetings. Tom has been in business 23 years, he is married to the love of his life, enjoys gardening and according to his co-workers he has a green thumb. He can be heard rooting for his favorite team with a resounding “Go Bears!” Courtney House has a seven year old daughter, Annalisa. Annalisa has Apraxia which has inspired Courtney to coordinate the Apraxia walk in Kansas City. Her favorite color is camouflage. Damara Zils has 3 children. She loves to read and is an avid Dallas Cowboys fan, and her favorite color is purple, and she loves Halloween
