Dear Parents & Carers

Lost property

A reminder that lost property items are stored in containers in the reception area of school. Parents are always welcome to come in and look for lost items if they wish. Items with names on them will normally be returned to the child in question. We do, unfortunately, deal with a large amount of lost property and we do our very best to ensure items are returned but eventually we have to dispose of property that is not claimed. Do please encourage your child to ask if there is something that they have lost.

Last week 5 of our pupils took the Level 2 Bikeability course, a cycle training scheme run by the Local Authority. This is completely free of charge and teaches youngsters to be sensible and safe when cycling around. It is available to any pupil in years 5, 6 and 7. If you would like your child to receive this training please ask him or her to collect a form from our school office.

Rugby Training

A good turn out at Rugby prompts a great, if a little muddy, start to training. For the next half term boys Rugby will be on Tuesday lunchtimes and girls Rugby will be on Thursday lunchtimes.

Sky Sports Living Athlete Visit

Sky Sports Living Athlete Visit

Paralympian Craig McCann joined the Year 5 & 6 Netball squad on Thursday to tell them about his incredible story. He spent the whole day with the group which involved his own journey to London 2012 and some brilliant team building games for the team. We would like to thank Sky Sports & Craig for bringing this fantastic opportunity to the girls. He later posted this tweet showing what a credit the girls are to the school.

Crime Prevention Talk

Last week our Year 8 pupils welcomed a visitor into school as part of their Be Spirited Lessons. Mr Dave Burn came in to school to talk to the pupils about the risks associated with drugs and knife crime.

Year 7 France Trip

This takes place next October and applies to pupils who are currently in year 6. Information has been given to Y6 pupils this week and letters are coming home for any who are interested. Please look carefully at the information for parents in the letter as there are important deadlines referred to as part of the application process.

Congratulations to Jessica F in Year 5 who has had a very successful week, she came in first place in all of the three dance competitions that she entered. Well done Jessica.

Enterprise education is a huge success!

As you may already know, Year 5 pupils took part in Virgin Money's 'Make £5 Grow' Scheme last term. The aim being to learn about business and develop skills in literacy, numeracy, creativity, leadership, problem solving, teamwork and have lots of fun while trying to make a profit.

They held a Christmas Fair to sell their products which proved to be a huge success and was a lovely atmosphere. Pupils and staff have been eager to find out just how much profit was made and I can now confirm that a staggering £835.00 profit was made. That's over 200% profit, I think Richard Branson would be very happy with that indeed!

Donna Waite from Virgin Money visited school today to present all 84 pupils with their certificates and to congratulate them on such an achievement. Wellfield certainly have the entrepreneurial spirit. Now to decide what to spend the profits on, school council will discuss in the coming weeks, so watch this space.

Thank you again, to everyone who took part in the scheme and particularly those that bought their products. We look forward to taking part in future business ventures as a school.

Well done to our Autumn Term Stars
