RE: District Update on COVID-19
Dear Parents,
As we navigate the challenges presented by COVID-19 (Coronavirus), it is imperative that we stay informed and calm. Please be advised that our District is taking additional steps to support prevention through cleaning, sanitizing, and disinfecting.
To date, we have NOT been informed by the Department of Public Health of any individuals (staff or students) in our District who have tested positive for COVID-19. The California Department of Public Health recommends the following:
- It is vital that parents keep their child home from school if he/she is sick with a fever and cough until he/she is fever-free and feeling better. According to Public Health guidelines, students should be fever-free for 72 hours without medication before returning to the school site.
As we continue to closely monitor information and developments regarding COVID-19, the Norwalk-La Mirada Unified School District is taking the additional precautions below. Out of an abundance of caution to further safeguard our students, staff, and campuses, we are temporarily suspending all of the following activities through April 19, 2020, effective immediately:
- Open House events
- School Assemblies
- Theater and Choir Performances
- Band Performances
- All field trips, including out of state
- Athletic events
- Any other large gatherings as determined by each school or the District
We will continue to keep you updated via emails and the District website. Rest assured that we are regularly engaging with public entities to ensure a safe and healthy learning environment for all.
Thank you so much for your continued support of our students and our school communities.
Hasmik Danielian, Ed.D.
