Why they came to the US?
They came to the US because they wanted more land and because they needed more food. Also, they were at war so they had to escape from there danger that they had at that time or they could die. If they stayed there, they would be at war. They also wanted religious freedom.
Interesting Facts
The Polish people were very poor so they wanted to move to the United States. They had to plant crops so they wouldn't run out of food and their life was bad because of all the wars. World War ll ended in 1945 and the Poland borders had changed a lot of times over the years. Poland has seven neighbors: Germany, Slovakia, Czech Republic, Lithuania, Belarus, Ukraine, and Russia. The Polish people got sick from the ship that they had to be on when they were going to the U.S.
Favorite Traditions
Easter was their favorite holiday. They would eat traditional foods like pierogi and Kielbasa . They also danced the mazurka and the polonaise. That meant a lot to the Polish Americans. They loved it.

This is an old fashion dance from Poland.

This is one of the Polish people's favorite foods.

Easter is one of their holidays.
Chocolate Fudge Cake
1 1/2 cups sugar
1 1/2 cups cocoa
1 1/2 baking soda
2 cups flour
3/4 teaspoons salt
1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla
3/4 cups vegetable oil
1 1/2 cups water
1 1/2 teaspoons vinegar
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In a ungreased 9 x 13 sift all ingredients. Add the liquid and stir until blended. Bake for 25 minutes. Frost with your favorite frosting cake.
