From the Head of School...

Hello Summit Community,

Enrollment for 2023-24 is currently open and packets are being submitted. We appreciate your timely submissions, and we are happy to assist in anyway. As Tier 1 enrollment ends on February 15, we encourage you to complete your packets as soon as you can. Please keep in mind that early enrollment helps with staffing and purchasing.

Our Admissions Director, Mr. Allen, is welcoming in new families to tour Summit School and we have kicked up our marketing efforts to get the word out about Summit and all of the amazing things we have to offer. Our admissions goal this year is to add thirty students to our great group of roughly 250 Sabrecats. You can help. Consider referring a family you know through work, activities, or your neighborhood. Not only does this strengthen our Summit Community, but it also earns you a $1,000 referral credit for 2023-24.

Reach out if you have questions or need more information about enrollment or referrals.

Thank you for all you do.

Sincerely,

Dr. Stephanie Nardi

Head of School

Call to Action...

Good afternoon,

The Student Council is calling our community to action. The Annual Diaper Drive ends next Tuesday, January 31. We have collected less than 2,000 diapers so far. Student Council has been leading a diaper drive at Summit for fifteen plus years. On average, each diaper drive brings in between 10,000 to 20,000 diapers. During the Covid year of 2020 we were still able to collect 5,000 diapers during quarantine! That is amazing!

This video, presented by the Diaper Bank Founder, gives you more insight into why it is so important that we all bring in diapers. No package is too small and no amount of cash donated is too small. Student Council understands that the adults in our lives are busy. Therefore, dropping off a cash donation in the front office is great. Mrs. France will take the money and purchase diapers for you!

Please help us help babies and families in need. Thank you for your support of Student Council! #kidshelpingkids

Sincerely,

Student Council and Mrs. France

Congratulations to Two of Our Staff

Please take a moment to congratulate two of our amazing staff members on their upcoming 2023-24 positions.

Melissa France will be moving into a Dean of Students role to support and expand our students' social emotional learning. Her primary responsibility will be student SEL/behavior support. She will be working in collaboration with Mrs. Mauermann, teachers, and Dr. Nardi to provide student support. In addition, she will continue to teach life skills to 6-8, lead student council, and work on alumni connections. See her bio below.

Vanessa Olivas, our newest staff member, will be moving into a classroom to cover the middle school math vacancies left with Melissa's transition as well as continuing to provide advanced math to middle school.

A seventh grade homeroom teacher is yet to be determined.

Mrs. France, Dean of Students Beginning 2023-24

I am pleased to begin my new role at Summit as the Dean of Students. I have been teaching for twenty-four years, with twenty-two of them at Summit! While I am looking forward to beginning my new role at Summit, I am thrilled that I will also be able to continue teaching Life Skills in grades 6-8 as well as continuing to lead the Student Council. I look forward to being able to work with all ages on campus in support of student learning and SEL. I have a Bachelor of Science degree in Education, with a minor in Psychology from Northern State University. I was named Educator Mentor of the Year by the Ahwatukee Chamber of Commerce in 2013. I am also the recipient of multiple “Golden Gator, Excellence in Teaching Award” from Xavier College Preparatory High School in addition to being honored by Who’s Who Among America’s Teachers for excellence as a distinguished educator.

Summit School Community Partnerships

Do you own or have a connection to a local business? Please share.

Dear Community Member,

Summit School is pleased to announce that we are starting a community partner program with businesses in our local community. We know that connections in the community are invaluable to the success of our school and our local businesses.

We would like to invite you to become a Summit Community Partner. This partnership requires no donations or financial support. Instead, we ask for mutual participation. Here is how it works.

  • You agree to be a Summit Community Partner by posting our Summit School Community Partner flyer, poster, or our Summit School brochures in your business.

  • We add your logo to our Summit Community Partners website page and our weekly school digital newsletter.

  • We will reach out to you when we have campus events that you may be interested in for the purpose of sponsorship, table displays, or other connections.

  • We offer you the opportunity to add items or information to our new family welcome bags.

To get started, please complete this form or reach out to Kyle Allen, Director of Admissions and Marketing at kyle.allen@summitschoolaz.org. In addition, please send your business logo as a .png or .jpg file to the email address above.

Want to know more about Summit School? We would be happy to give you a tour of our campus. If you would like a tour or have any questions, please email Kyle Allen or call 480-403-9506. Thank you for your consideration.

In Partnership,

Dr. Stephanie Nardi
