POWERSCHOOL
Beginning Monday, all school communication will come via School Messenger. It is important that parents are able to receive these messages. If you are having any trouble, please contact your child's homeroom teacher.
We are very thankful for your patience with the PowerSchool transition. We are all learning together!
TEXT COMMUNICATION- We will occasionally use SMS to push out important messages. Before you can receive these text messages, you must OPT-IN. On 7/26 the Archdiocese sent out the opt-in text message to all parents and staff asking them to opt-in. The message would have come from 67587. CYO Football
Good morning parents of South Central Catholic Football. The 2022 season officially begins in a little more than a week and there is some important information we would like to share. For those of you that are new to the program, South Central Catholic is a shared program with St Roch, Holy Name, Central Catholic and St Mark parishes.
- Teams/Coaches:
- This year we will have two teams for the 3rd/4th grade 7 on 7 league.
- 34 Team 1 (players from Holy Name and St Mark) will be coached by Jimmy Stahley (jimstahley@gmail.com )
- 34 Team 2 (players from St Roch) will be coached by Steve Sauter (Sauter_s@yahoo.com )
- We do not have any players currently registered from Central Catholic for 34, but if we do we will determine which team they will be assigned.
- 5th and 6th Grades will have one team for all players
- Jeff Jourdan will coach the 56 team (jeffreyjourdan@gmail.com )
- 7th and 8th Grade will have one varsity and one JV team
- The Cadet team functions as a single team for practices and games, however varsity generally plays games on Sunday and JV generally plays on Wednesday evenings
- Will Kiesel (kieselw2019@gmail.com ) and Jake Eagan (eagan.jake@yahoo.com) will coach the cadet team.
- Practice:
- Practices for all teams will take place at Central Catholic School (1155 Cameron St, Indy 46203)
- The first official CYO practice date is August 15th. The coaches of each team will determine the practice schedule which they will share with you in the coming days.
- Non-mandatory conditioning sessions will continue this week and next week for all grades: Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings, 6:00p to 7:30p at Central Catholic (7th and 8th grades generally run until 8:00p)
- Key Dates:
- CYO does not release the game schedule until Labor Day weekend however there are some key dates we can share with you now.
- Sunday, August 7 (THIS SUNDAY): Equipment Distribution (more details below)
- Saturday, August 20th: MANDATORY CYO player weigh-ins. At the CYO Center (520 Stevens Street, Indy 46203) Each team will be given a specific time slot in the coming week or so which your respective coaches will share with you once they receive it.
- Sunday, August 28: South/West Side CYO football jamboree at Roncalli High School. This is an organized scrimmage game in which each team will play 2 quarters. Again we have not yet received the official schedule from the host, Roncalli. When we do, your coach will pass it along to you. We do know that they will begin with Cadets at 1pm, then 56, then 34’s.
- Equipment Distribution
- Players will receive equipment (helmets, shoulder pads, pants and game uniforms) this Sunday at Holy Name Parish Gymnasium (89 N 17th Ave, Beech Grove)
- 7th/8th Grade Players will begin at 1:00p
- 5th/6th Grade Players may arrive at 1:30p
- 3rd/4th Grade Players may arrive at 2:00p
- Please be on time!! If you cannot make it on Sunday you will need to make arrangements with your coach to get your equipment.
- CYO Physicals:
- Each player must have a CYO Physical on file at their respective schools in order to compete in all CYO sports within one year. So if you turned in a physical in February of 2022, you will be okay for this football season. But if you do not have one on file or if you turned one in, say last September (2021), you must have an updated physical on file before it lapses.
- Again, you should turn in your physical form to your school office, not to the coaches.
- You can find the CYO Physical form here: https://cyoarchindy.org/wp-content/uploads/2018/09/Website-Physical-2015.pdf
Thank you for getting registered for the 2022 football season. The coaches are very excited to get started. From this point forward your communication will come directly from the coaches of your respective teams, In the meantime, if you have any additional questions please feel free to email or text me at (317-557-8750).
