Ancient Egypt and Pharohs
The Old Kingdom
The Old Kingdom was "alive" from about 2700-2200 BCE. The Old Kingdom was also known as the "Age of Pyramids." They built great Pyramids as tombs for themselves. Also during this time, early pharaohs set up a strong central government.
The Middle Kingdom
The Middle Kingdom was "alive" from about 2000-1800 BCE. It is sometimes called the Period of Reunification because it was established after a great deal of chaos and disunity. The Egyptians made many great achievements in literature, art, and architecture during this period of time.
The New Kingdom
The New Kingdom was "alive" from about 1600-1100 BCE. Egypt's power was the strongest it ever was before. This was a reason why this age was nicknamed Egypt's golden age. During this time Pharos increased trade and built huge monuments.
Which Pharoh was the Best?
Out of the four Pharahos that we studied- Khufu, Senusret I, Hatshepsut and Ramses II- I think that Ramses II was the most successful. He had over 100 wives and more than 100 children. He had over 60 statues of himself all around Egypt. He gained his leadership skills at a very young age. He was made a captain in the Egyptian army at the age of 10. He and Hitties were also the ones who signed the world's first peace treaty. One of his most impressive projects was the temple complex at Abu Simbel. The main temple was carved into the side of a cliff on a bank of the Nile River. A smaller temple honored his favorite wife, Nefertari.
