Happy New Year, Longwood Families!
We are eagerly anticipating the return of our Lions on Monday, January 8th! We are hopeful this break has provided an opportunity for time with loved ones.
Thank You!
Thank you to Mr. Munoz and his team for all of their hard work over break refreshing carpets and preparing the building for our return! Thank you to all of our families and staff who provided donations and/or volunteered for the district's Winter Wishes and Gift Mart programs!
Successful Return
- Reestablish Routines: Encourage your child to gradually transition back into their school wake up and bedtime routine this weekend. Getting plenty of sleep is essential!
- Check Backpacks & Chromebooks: Take a moment to check your child's backpack and supplies. We have many brand new backpacks and supply donations available to provide our students. If you're in need of any items, please contact jennifer_campen@ipsd.org. Be sure to charge up those Chromebooks, too!
- Celebrate Achievements: The return from break can occasionally foster feelings of nervousness or anxiety in our students. Consider highlighting your child's successes and accomplishments during the first semester and celebrate their hard work! Please call or message your child's teacher if your child is in need of additional support with their return to school.
- Arrival: Doors Open at 8:50 on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays. Blacktop & Playground are CLOSED during arrival and dismissal. Doors Open at 9:00 on Wednesdays.
- Lunch: January Lunch Menu Students must take sides and a milk for their meal to be free!
No School
A friendly reminder that there is No School on Monday, January 15th or Tuesday, January 16th.
Have a wonderful weekend, Lions! Thank you for being a part of our Pride!
Longwood Lions go outside for lunch/recess and extra recess as long as the "feels like" temperature is 5 degrees or above. Fresh air and time to play outside are good for our students! We try to get get them outside as much as the weather allows, even in the winter months. If we can support your family with any winter clothing items, including coats, gloves, boots, or snow pants, please call the main office at 630-428-6789 to be connected with Mrs. Lome, our Social Worker. We have many brand new items available!
District 204 follows a plan whenever there is consideration of holding an e-learning day or canceling school due to weather conditions. If the district holds an e-learning day or cancels school completely, the information will be announced by 6 am on www.ipsd.org. The district will also make a 204 Connect phone call by 6 AM to alert parents and guardians of the information. Parents and students can also check the Emergency Closing Center for school closings. For more information, visit the district’s e-Learning webpage.
