In Touch with TG

September 15, 2022

Dear Toll Gate Families,

We have had a very successful first two weeks of school. I want to thank everyone for all their support over these past few weeks.

We have been hard at work developing strong relationships in our classes, focusing on making connections and implementing structures and routines to ensure students feel safe and supported.

I want to give a huge "shout-out" to the PTO Green Team and all they have done to bring our outdoor learning space to life. Several classes have already taken advantage of the new classroom.

If you have not had a chance to check out our website with updated pictures from the first week of school, CLICK HERE.

Please reach out with any questions at any time. I am always available for a phone call, Zoom or in-person meeting.

Take care and have a great weekend,

Toll Gate School Updates

At Toll Gate we are always looking for ways to strengthen our community and support the whole child. The social and emotional well-being of our students is our very first concern.

Many teachers throughout the building are using PurposeFull People, part of the Character Strong program. If you would like to learn more about the program, please CLICK HERE .

This month we are focusing on RESPECT and many of our community building activities in our classrooms are centered around this core concept.

International Dot Day

Celebrate Creativity, Courage & Collaboration!

Today in many classrooms, Toll Gators were Making Their Mark as we celebrated International Dot Day.

The Dot is the story of a caring teacher who dares a doubting student to trust in her own abilities by being brave enough to “make her mark.” What begins with a small dot on a piece of paper becomes a breakthrough in confidence and courage, igniting a journey of self-discovery and sharing, which has gone on to inspire countless children and adults around the globe.

You can check out the origins of International Dot Day HERE as told by author Peter Reynolds.

Student Absences | Call TelSafe

Please remember to call the Telsafe line, 609-737-4008, option 2, to report all absences or tardies.

We also ask that parents leave reasons for absences on that line. You can call ahead if you know about a planned absence or lateness. An email to a teacher may not be seen if the teacher is absent that day.

Our attendance policy does require us to track both excused and unexcused student absences.

Back to School Night | Thursday, Sept. 29th

Back to School Night is an opportunity to learn about your child’s teacher and program. If you have specific questions about your child, individual conferences can be scheduled with the teacher at another time.

This is an informative evening event and we respectfully request young children and students not attend.

Principal Read Aloud This Week

Big picture

Named Best Book of the Year by Barnes & Noble, The New York Times/New York Public Library, Publishers Weekly, and School Library Journal.

Christian Robinson has written and illustrated many wonderful children's books. We love using his books for read alouds. Drawing became a way to make a space for himself and to create the kind of world he wanted to see.
