A Message From the Principal
October 18, 2020
Dear Jaguars,
We hope you all had a wonderful and restful Fall Break. There are several important updates below so please be sure to read through each portion of the newsletter.
I want to sincerely thank every student, family, teacher, and staff member for all they have done to support one another over the last nine weeks. I know the journey has not been without detours, but together, we have overcome many bumps in the road. While the road ahead may still present some challenges, I know we will persevere.
Please continue to reach out with any questions and/or concerns. While we might not have the answers right away we will do all that we can to find them.
Thank you for your support and have a great month.

Reopening Information
The following letter was sent on 10/14/20 by Superintendent Gunning. Please note that this return to In-Person learning is for those families who chose that particular learning model.
Dear Litchfield Families,
Our Governing Board met last night and approved my recommendation to use a phased approach to resume In-Person Learning (5 days per week in classrooms). Students who chose the In-Person Learning model will resume learning 5 days per week in classrooms in accordance to the following schedule.
Monday, October 26, 2020 Preschool through Grade 5
Monday, November 2, 2020 Grades 6 - 8
Students who chose the Hybrid Learning model or Digital Learning Academy will remain in their chosen programs. Please contact your child's principal if you would like to discuss transitioning your child to another learning model.
In-Person Learning (5 days per week in classrooms) is widely recognized as academically and socially-emotionally best for most students. We are delighted to offer three quality learning models to our families so that they may choose the model that best suits them.
Our plans for educational excellence are bolstered by our intensive mitigation plan and upgraded safety supports. This includes promoting healthy habits, requiring face coverings, incorporating hand washing breaks and disinfecting high touch surface areas throughout the school day, disinfecting entire campuses every school night, and staffing to support added custodial demands. We are also in the rigorous process of Healthy Verify certification to ensure the safe and effective implementation of our intensive mitigation plan.
Thank you to our teachers and staff for their flexibility and dedication in getting us to this point, and to our families for entrusting us with the care of their children. On behalf of our Governing Board and award-winning staff, I sincerely thank you for choosing Litchfield Elementary School District.
Your partner in education,
Jodi Gunning, M.Ed.
Superintendent
Celebrations-Points of Pride
Title One Tech-Just before we left on break I was notified of the fact that we will be receiving 80 brand new computers from the radio station Mix 96.9 and Million Dollar Teacher Project. They have been running a campaign called Title One Tech and I applied for our students back in April. I was notified a few weeks ago that they selected our school as a recipient. We are so thankful to Mix 96.9 and the Million Dollar Teacher Project for this generous donation. We will be distributing computers to our students who are in the greatest need of technology.
ABC15-I was contacted by Simona Wong of ABC15's "Helping Kids Go Places" that Mr. Bruce Legge was nominated by a former student for his amazing work with our Strings program. Not only was he nominated, but Mr. Legge was selected as an honoree. He has been notified and the proceeds from the award will go back into the program. CONGRATULATIONS Mr. Legge, while you may be enjoying life as a retiree, you will always be a Jaguar. Your impact continues on.
