PRINCIPAL'S NOTES
This week, I want to share an incredible resource with our Bloomingdale parents. The National PTA has a website with resources, ideas, and information that is super interesting and useful. Just go to www.pta.org to check it out.
Here at Bloomingdale, a membership in PTA only costs $5 for the school year. I strongly encourage anyone who can to be a member of PTA. We have amazing parent support and participation at Bloomingdale, but not many of our parents are actually members. There are so many ways you can help, and we need all our Bloomingdale families who can to take part. Please consider joining us! The link to join our Bloomingdale PTA is located elsewhere in this newsletter.

Deadline for EEDN Fast Approaching
This is a gentle reminder that the deadline to submit your student’s Ears,
Eyes, Dental and Nutrition (EEDN) form is October 29, 2021.
Georgia State Law requires any student enrolled in a Georgia school to submit a one-time
EEDN form. This form is especially important to any Pre-Kindergarten
student or any student new to the school this year.
The EEDN is a mini-physical that your doctor or the Department of Public Health can perform
that checks your student’s vision, hearing, dental status and basic height,
weight, and overall percentage of growth.
The EEDN can help determine if your child might need further evaluation by a specialty provider. Students who have trouble seeing or hearing can also have trouble in school. The
EEDN can discover issues before they become a problem. Every category on the EEDN must state the student is passing.
If a student is not tested in a category or has a note that says “needs further evaluation”, the EEDN is not considered complete. If this happens, a parent must take the student
to be further evaluated by an eye doctor, and ENT, or a dentist and present
the school with documentation of the visit.
EEDN forms are due by October 29, 2021. Any student who does not present a completed EEDN form by this date is at risk of being withdrawn from school per Georgia
Law.
If you have any questions or want to check your student’s status,
reach out to me during the school day or by email at

Have you heard about Tangrams? These colorful puzzle pieces are a classroom staple but can also be beneficial to have at home for your children to use. Tangrams are puzzles made from different shapes that can be put together to create a multitude of different pictures and designs. You can purchase Tangram puzzles at your local bookstore, download and print or you can find virtual manipulatives to use on a tablet. Check out this website which has free virtual tangrams: https://toytheater.com/tangram/
Challenge your child to create different animals, letters, numbers and designs while manipulating the Tangram pieces. In no time at all, your child will be practicing visual spatial skills and logical thinking skills.
