“The ABCs of Parenting”
A Nurturing Hope series for parents and children with additional needs or health challenges, ages 5-8*
*Some older children may be able to join based on a case by case determination
Give your parenting skills a boost and connect with other parents in your community!
Throughout this 12-week series, you will learn:
· Tips for setting age-appropriate and developmentally-appropriate expectations.
· Tools to build personal power and self-worth in yourself and your children.
· Strategies for effective problem-solving.
· Ways to establish discipline through family rules, rewards, and alternatives to spanking/yelling.
· Strategies for effective stress and anger management.

School Board Openings
Four seats on HSD's school board (positions 1,2,3 and 6) are up for election in May of 2017. Any registered voter who has lived in the HSD attendance area for at least one year and is not a current staff member is eligible to run for an available position. Candidates may file between Feb. 6 and Mar. 16, 2017.
Kindergarten Registration
17-18 Kinder registration begins March 1st. Packets are available in the office now! Round up May 23rd, 6:00 - 8:00 PM. Please share with your neighbors!

2017 Spring Performance Schedule
- Glencoe HS Feeder School Choral Festival
Date: Thursday March 16th
Time: Meet: 6:00pm, perform: 7-8:30pm
Place: Glencoe HS Auditorium
Cost: Free
About: A choral festival for all Glencoe feeder schools. Our choir will sing for the audience plus all choir Members from Jackson, North Plains, Imlay Elementary Schools and Evergreen MS. They will be able to watch all other performers including Glencoe HS ensembles. At the end, there will be a mass choir performance directed by Mr. Vance Sele, Glencoe HS. No busing will be provided.
- Oaks Amusement Park
Date: Sunday May 7th
Time: 1:30pm - meet at the community stage, just across the train tracks.
2:00-3:00pm – perform on stage
Place: Oaks Amusement Park

Portland, Oregon 97202
Cost: Performers are free. All performers receive a deluxe ride bracelet
Guests: Free admission to the park. Games and rides may be purchased.
About: Jackson Choirs will perform on stage at the park. All performers will receive a deluxe ride bracelet and may stay until closing with their families. Car-pooling is recommended. No busing will be provided.
- Music In The Parks – Wild Waves
*****4th/5th/6th grade choir only*****
Date: Saturday June 3rd
Time: 6:00am – Board the buses at Jackson elementary school.
Place: Tacoma, Washington; Federal Way, Washington.
(warm-up: TBA; Performance: TBA)
Cost: performers: $46 pays for festival admission/adjudication, $10 dinner, $14 busing fees.
Chaperones: $16 for discounted water park admission.

Shockwave Robo Expo
Join Glencoe's Team 4488 Shockwave and Hillsboro Mayor Steve Callaway at our 2017 RoboExpo as we celebrate the unveiling of our 2017 FIRST Robotics Steamworks competition robot. The RoboExpo event displays large robots from Team Shockwave and other FIRST robotics teams as well as robot technology from Intel, the Washington County Sheriff's Department, and many others. A fundraising spaghetti dinner ($10) and silent auction add to the fun! RoboExpo will take place from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m., with the ceremonial unveiling at 6 p.m. Children are welcome.
