Hello Families,
Thank you to all of you who have made time to connect with your studentβs teacher(s). We prioritize our partnership with you all and know that our impact on student growth is greater with your support!
As we head into the second half of this year it is a great time to reflect on our commitments to
- Know each of our students in order to
- Inspire learning and leaders, consider adjustments needed to
- Nurture hearts and minds, all with an emphasis on
- Developing and maintaining partnerships between staff, students and families.
If you havenβt heard it from your student's teacher yet, thank you for sharing them with us! We have a fun-filled February ahead of us with Kindness day, mid-winter break, and Read Across America just around the corner!
With Gratitude,
Melanie Ready
Principal

Celebrating Black History Month in February
Each February marks the acknowledgment of Black History Month. Itβs a month where many in our community focus on and celebrate the accomplishments and contributions of Black Americans past and present. Itβs an opportunity to celebrate not only familiar names and events but also an opportunity to learn more about those in our own families and communities who have quietly made a difference in the lives of others. Reflecting and learning from history allows us to move forward and be inspired to honor and fulfill the legacy of those whose accomplishments have been minimized and sometimes ignored. Black history is part of American history. The stories and significance of 1619, Juneteenth, The Tulsa Riots, HBCUs, Black Wall Street, the Tuskegee Airmen, Emmett & Mamie Till, The Little Rock Nine, and the Four Little Girls from Birmingham killed in a church bombing who will live in our hearts forever need to be told and learned from.
Black History month allows us to more fully understand and value the role that Black Americans hold in our nationβs past and present enabling us to work toward creating a more welcoming, safe, supportive, and inclusive, future.
Equity is one of our five Tahoma CARES goals, and we all play an important role in providing equitable instruction and support services for our students.
Sincerely,
Tony Davis
Assistant Superintendent of Student Experience

The Substitute Paraeducator position can be found on page two. The location says Central Service Center, but once you are hired as a substitute you can select which schools you are willing to work at.
