My Hero

Abby Foster

Who is my hero?

My hero is my mom, Kim Foster. She's my hero because she has been through so much in her life, from surviving cancer, to dealing with me and my sister who would fight all the time when we were younger, and she still manages to stay positive all the time. She also always knows exactly what to say to make me feel better when I'm having a bad day, and I don't know what I would do without her.

Quote

“And then a hero comes along, with the strength to carry on, and you cast your fears aside and you know you can survive, so when you feel like hope is gone, look inside you and be strong, and you'll finally see the truth, that a hero lies in you.” – Mariah Carey

Connection

I think this song is saying that everyone has heroic qualities inside them that can come out when needed. I think she made this song to give people hope and show them that they can have heroic qualities in them.
When you go through something that my mom went through, you see how much strength you really have and I never imagined that she could be as strong as she was.

Themes

Fate-

In Sleeping beauty, Aurora's fate was decided for her at a young age. She was to prick her finger on her 16th birthday and she would then fall into a deep sleep and only true love's kiss would wake her. Just like it was Beowulf's destiny to kill Grendel, both of their fates were decided, and couldn't be changed.

Deadly Battle-

In The Hobbit at The Battle of the Five Armies, a battle scene takes place and many died. They didn't run from the battle, they went in to fight to gain honor. Just like how in Beowulf, how he bravely went to fight Grendel, risking his own life to do so.

Bravery-

In the movie, the Hunger Games, Katniss Everdeen shows great bravery going into the Hunger Games, knowing there wasn't a good chance of her coming out alive. This is like Beowulf, because he showed tremendous amounts of bravery to fight Grendel and his mother.
