Best Time to Come to Seville, Spain
During the Spring
Feria de Abril
Every year, Seville throws a week-long party called La Feria de Seville. Over a million people attend to watch flamenco dancers and magnificent parades of horses and carriages. Everywhere, you hear people singing with their guitars and people chatting with friends. It's a fair full of fun and excitement.
History
Back in 1847, it started out as just a cattle fair but evolved into a big around-the-clock spectacular of all that is Spanish.
Set-Up
The fair is set up on a rectangular piece of land called the Real de la Feria. It's about a mile long and 700 yards wide. Individual tents are set up with brightly-colored canvases and thousands of paper lanterns. On the insides are dancing halls where every night you can watch Flamenco dancing and music. Most of the tents are run by aristocratic families, clubs, trade unions, and political parties.
What to wear
All women wear magnificently colored Gypsy-inspired flamenco dresses while men usually wear what they call " trajes cortos " or short suits with white-brimmed hats.
