Mrs. Burkhardt's Classroom News
September 5, 2017
Welcome to Kindergarten!!
My name is Shelley Burkhardt and I will be your child's kindergarten teacher this year. I am very excited and looking forward to a memorable school year together!
There are a few things you may like to know to get our school year started. School starts on Tuesday, September 5th and it is a full day of school! School day is 8:50-3:30.
Learning builds day by day. A child who misses a day of school misses a day of learning. Regular school attendance builds a solid educational background. If your child is unable to come to school due to doctor's appointment, they are sick, etc. please be sure to contact the office as soon as possible to let us know.
I believe a parent-teacher connection is extremely important for a successful school year. A daily binder will come home every day. Inside you will be given helpful resources to extend your child's learning at home. You may also send notes to ask questions, clarify information or let me know important information. Lunch money can be paid on a daily basis or you can pay on your child's account. Please send money in an envelope or ziplock labeled with your child's name and state whether its for lunch or milk or both.

We will have snack every day. Students will need to bring a nutritious snack. Also, I do not consider candy as a snack! If I am made aware of any classroom allergies that will effect our class during parties, I will advise parents as soon as as possible.
Please watch for Literacy Bags to come home in your child's back pack in October (more information to come about those). I will start sending paper books (early readers) home this week to work on reading skills at home. These books can be kept at home for added practice. They are yours to keep, so they may be colored in for extra practice!
