The North Elementary Star
A message from your principal
I would like to thank everyone again for an awesome start to school. Thank you for evaluating your child's symptoms at home and keeping them when they are ill. If we keep this up, it will only shorten the time we have to have these protocols in place. Our students are doing so well with wearing their masks. I am so proud of them. Please continue to stay in contact with the school about your child's absences.
COVID - 19 Protocol Update
The Indiana Department of Health released updated guidelines this week. There are two changes that I want to bring to your attention.
- If a student is not a close contact of a COVID 19 positive case, is symptomatic and has either tested negative for COVID 19 or has an alternate diagnosis from a physician, the individual must be 24 hours fever-free without the use of fever-reducing medication and show improvement of symptoms. (This has changed from 72 hours fever-free.)
- If a student, faculty or staff member has symptoms of COVID-19 as described above and tests positive or does NOT get tested for COVID-19, then siblings and household members should be considered close contacts and advised to quarantine. If the symptomatic person is diagnosed with another condition that explains the symptoms, or tests negative, then no quarantine for close contacts is necessary, but a provider’s note with alternate diagnosis will be needed to return to school. A symptomatic student, faculty or staff member and anyone living in their household should quarantine while waiting for test results.
