Today marks the half way point of the 2021-2022 school year. Despite some unique challenges, our students and staff have come every day and worked hard to be better than the day before. We hope the second half is as successful as the first half.

Elementary schools in Grosse Pointe have not had a music concert since the Winter of 2019. We are excited that we have an opportunity to share our students’ musical gifts with the Kerby community on Thursday, March 17 at 7:00 PM. The concert will be held in the Brownell Multipurpose Room.

This week our 4th Grade Safety and Service members have been assigned to outdoor posts and have begun to man those posts. Having them on the corners adds an extra layer of safety as our students walk to school. Please be mindful of these students when you see them on their safety posts.

How to upload student vaccine records

Parents and guardians can upload their student's COVID vaccine card using the MiStar Parent Portal by following the directions linked here. According to quarantine guidelines from the Wayne County Health Department, any student who is fully vaccinated will not be required to quarantine if they are identified as a close contact to a COVID positive individual. Uploading your student’s vaccine card will help the district quickly identify those students who will not be required to quarantine. Thank you for doing this once the shots are complete!

• Students need to bring to the office or email sicklel@gpschools.org a doctor's note or a negative Covid test before the student can return to school if they are excluded from school because they have two or more symptoms that are outlined on the Covid-19 Screening Tool for Families.
  

• GPPSS is not allowing students to use at-home covid tests to prove their negative covid result at this time. When students need to test, they can test at the school when they were exposed to Covid in school or at a healthcare facility (doctor's office, CVS, Walgreens, etc...) when they are exposed outside of school.

Superintendent Dean will continue his listening sessions with a virtual Community Town Hall Thursday, January 20 from 6-7 p.m. This meeting will be held through our Livestream account. Key facets of the Strategic Plan will be presented and then questions will be answered. We will be using a google form similar to the process used successfully in the past.
