Newsletter Week 7 Term 3

Meeanee School 7th September, 2022

MESSAGE FROM THE SWIVELLY CHAIR

We have been very lucky to have Miss Brett and Ms Lomax in our school this term. They will finish up at the end of next week. They have brought energy and professionalism to the school. They both are teaching full-time for 12 days in their classes ably supported by Kelly and Danielle. I have been fortunate enough to see both in action and have been impressed with their teaching. There are going to be some lucky schools next year that get to employ these two ladies.

Out of zone enrolments are closed for now. We are getting almost daily enquiries about enrolling in our school which we have unfortunately had to turn down. Please remember that if you haven't already alerted us to an out of zone sibling you need to do so. Thanks to all of our community for making our school a place people want to bring their children to.

On that note it is really heartening to get parent support to take sports teams and transport students to events. We cannot afford to get buses all of the time. The buses for the Cross Country for example cost us $1,100.

At the end of this term I just want to remind you that students last day will be Thursday 29th September as all of our staff will be involved in a Teacher Only Day on Friday 30th September to look at Writing and Physical Activity/Wellbeing.

Be Kind, Stay Safe,

POSITIVE BEHAVIOUR FOR LEARNING

This weeks PB4L focus is:

We will speak nicely to each other.

ASSEMBLY WINNERS

Big picture
Room 1 (Pukeko) have been involved in Drama activities this term. We had a story about "The Giant Who Threw Tantrums". We used our imagination and became villagers of Thistletown working together to solve the problem of the Giant on Thistle Mountain. We explored feelings, wellbeing and friendship themes.

We had fun!

Barefoot 7's 2022

Mrs McKay and Ms Lomax took two teams to Barefoot 7's over in Hastings last Thursday. They came back raving about how good our two teams were. Not just their sporting ability but also the school values they showed on the day against some interesting opposition.

Once again we thank those parents who transported students. Without your support we cannot give students all these opportunities.

Environmental Club

One of our new senior students Logan has been proactive in our school tackling rubbish and recycling. He has set up his own group to make our school a more environmentally friendly place.

Greendale Tennis Club Junior Opening Day

Hello from Greendale Tennis Club

Our tennis season is about to start again in a few weeks. Many of your students are already members of our club and I am sure many others would like to have the opportunity to play tennis.
