Classroom News

Happy New Year!! I was definitely ready to see everybody after the long break and I got a late Christmas gift on Monday night-A Seminole Championship! Miss Colabrese was definitely a happy camper this week!

With two delays and me doing mid-year assessments in the hallway, this week was a bit hectic but we did our best to get back into our classroom routines. We got to welcome back Ms. Brown after her foot surgery, and got our monthly writing and math problems underway.

Next week, on the 16th and 17th of January (Thursday and Friday), the students will have early release half days of school. The dismissal time on those days is 11:25. As always, if you plan on having a change in dismissal plans for your child, please send in a note or call the office :)

Bag lunches will be provided by the school, but our schedule on those days does not include a lunch time. If needed, students will be able to buy a bag lunch to take home with them. I apologize if that causes any inconvenience!

Enjoy your weekend!

Chopstick will be spending the weekend with Micah!

We can't wait to read about their adventures!

Weekly Happenings

The first day back was a little challenging for everybody, including me! It's hard to remember all of the little parts of classroom routines, but I was pleasantly surprised and impressed at how mature and in control my first graders were!

Because of our delay, the day went by very quickly! I hope that you were all able to stay warm! I started doing assessments on Tuesday and was so proud of what amazing readers these first graders are becoming!! Their hard work is paying off!

We started a fun winter project on Tuesday afternoon and finished it with Ms. Foley on Wednesday. We folded a paper in threes and each drew different parts of snowmen, switching papers after each part, so everyone ended up with a snowman drawn by three different classmates! They were awfully funny looking!

On Thursday we took some time to write thank you notes to my little sister in Florida because over Christmas break, she built Chopstick the Panda an awesome little house! It is still in Jacksonville for the time being since I couldn't fit it in my suitcase, but it will make it back eventually! Here is a picture of it:

Another delay! I finished our reading assessments so we can get back into the swing of reading groups and reading homework next week! Be expecting text copies in homework folders!
