Reporting Harassment, Intimidation, and Bullying Incidence
In an ongoing effort to provide a safe learning environment, Sycamore is requesting parents,
students, and staff to inform administration of any perceived incidents of harassment, intimidation, or bullying.
Per the Sycamore Board of Education policy JFCF, harassment, intimidation, and bullying are defined as any provoked and intentional written, verbal, electronic or physical act that a student has exhibited toward another particular student more than once and the behavior both:
1. causes mental or physical harm to the other student; and
2. is sufficiently severe, persistent, or pervasive that it creates an intimidating, threatening, or abusive educational environment for the other student.
Sycamore will do everything possible to address any complaints of harassment, intimidation, and bullying. We encourage students, staff, parents, and community members to report this type of behavior to the district if help is needed to solve a problem.
To report an incident of harassment, intimidation, and bullying,
1. Go to the district’s website, www.sycamoreschools.org or on the individual school’s
website under “Bullying Prevention” to find the form.
2. “Report Bullying”
3. Fill the form on-line and submit it electronically.
4. Hard copies of this form are available in each of the schools. Complete the hard copy of the report form and turn it into the building principal. The building principal or designee will promptly investigate all reported incidents.
It is difficult to investigate reported incidences that are anonymously submitted. However, every effort will be made to maintain the confidentiality of the reporter. Deliberate false reporting of harassment, intimidation, and bullying is prohibited.
Arrival and dismissal time changes
We are working to streamline the dismissal process. Staring on Monday, September 27, the Tardy Bell will now ring at 8:10 am instead of 8:05 am. We will also be dismissing walkers and bike riders at 2:40 pm. We are working with the transportation department to ensure we have an efficient process and we expect to share additional adjustments soon.
Closing the Greene School
HERE is a survey we are asking you to complete. We have created a Transition Team to help with this work. The transition team currently consists of teachers, administration, parents, and staff alumni. We plan on burying a time capsule in the lower courtyard of the new building as well as other activities. Your input on this survey will help shape our path in honoring all that have walked the halls of EHG before it is demolished.
All music change requests must be made by Sunday, September 26th. Please email your child's counselor requesting the music class to drop and the music class that you would like to add. After 9/26, students will be committed to their music choice.

Final Forms - please check and update your information
As in the past, we need ALL parents or guardians to log into Final Forms and update any necessary changes for our 2021 - 2022 school year ASAP. That way, any potential issues/problems/questions can be addressed before our return to school at the end of August. Some forms require a student signature. The Covid-19 Parent Agreement must be signed before the school year begins. You are required to sign the forms at the beginning of each new school year. A signature is also required after any update or as additional forms are added.
Please be sure to go to the "Transportation Information" section in Final Forms. Here you may give permission to those who may pick up your child from school, and designate emergency contacts. Please be sure to "check" all those who will be able to pick up your child from school. Thank you.
Student Picture Packets and Picture Retake Day - Monday September 27th
If your child had their picture taken on "Get Connected Day" but you did not order photos, you may still order them online. Inside the packet you have received is a flyer with ordering information. It will instruct you to go to "mylifetouch.com", then enter your "Portrait ID" code and your "Access Code" that are indicated on the flyer. Please note that there is Free Shipping on your order of $29.99 or more. Just use this CODE: SHIPFREE21 when you place your order.
Picture Retake Day
There will be a Picture Retake day on Monday, September 27th, from 8:00 am to 12:00 noon. If you want to have your child's photo re-taken , please have your child bring the picture packet with him/her on the 27th and give to the photographer.
If your child did not have his/her picture taken on August 16th, please make sure your child has their picture taken on the 27th. Be sure to place an order online before the 27th. Go to mylifetouch.com and enter your Picture Day ID: EVTMKBSJ4 to place your order. Picture packets will be made for prepaid orders. If you are not able to pay online, there are order forms at the Main Office.

Attention Registered Nurses
The Sycamore Community School District is currently looking for registered nurses who would like to be employed as substitute nurses. Applicants must have current nursing experience, preferably with children, special needs, diabetes and an active nursing license.

From Our School Nurse
If your child takes medication at school, please complete the medication order form and return to Laurie Dobrowolski, the school nurse. This form must be completed for daily medications, over the counter and emergency medications needed at school. Students are not allowed to
transport their own medication to school.

Face mask tips:
- should fit snugly and comfortably
- must be secured with ties or ear loops
- should comprise multiple fabric layers
- breathing should occur without restriction while wearing mask
- should be able to wash the face mask without causing damage or losing the face mask’s shape
Gaiters will not be considered an acceptable facial covering for school should a requirement be put into place.

Homeroom Parent Signup Form
Being a Homeroom Parent is a great way to support your child’s homeroom teacher and help them pull together celebrations or other social events. Bring your unique planning skills and personality to the role
Please note that with pandemic safety precautions at Greene School, parents will not be permitted to help in the building, but teachers will appreciate your help brainstorming fun activities and purchasing, preparing and dropping off materials for classroom events.

Virtual Candidates Forum
n Wednesday, September 29 from 7 P.M. to 9 P.M., the Sycamore Schools PTOs will present a virtual Candidates Forum that will be live broadcast via Sycamore Schools Youtube page.
We have elected to host the event virtually to grant all candidates and viewers the same opportunity to attend. Please be aware that there will be no audience participation due to the number of candidates and time constraints. Candidate contact information, links, and the material will be presented at the time of the forum.
Each candidate in attendance will have the opportunity to introduce themselves and speak about their campaign. There will then be a period for each of the candidates to answer the most common questions received by the PTOs. Questions can be submitted until midnight on Friday, September 24. Please follow the link below to submit a question. All candidates will have an opportunity for a closing statement following the question and answer session. For those who cannot attend the live feed, a recording will be available for future viewing.
