Dear GMC Family,
The administration is continuously working on our plan to start the 2020-2021 school year. Please check this newsletter frequently, as things are being updated often. We ask that everyone be patient and adaptable, as this situation is subject to change. During these unprecedented times, the administration, faculty, and staff at GMC are going to offer the best form of education available while also complying with the most current recommendations set forth by the SCDE and DHEC.

- All students will be required to wear a mask in class when there are too many students to stay 6 or more feet apart. All classes will take a 5 minute “breathing break” where they will be allowed to go outside or into a large area and remove masks.
- They will also be required to wear masks while in the hallways, bathrooms, locker rooms and lunch lines.
- If a student has a medical reason that prohibits them from wearing a mask, please provide medical documentation and the student will be allowed to wear a face shield in lieu of a mask.

- While in the cafe, in the breezeway or on the patio, they will be permitted to remove their masks, but must keep their distance of 6 feet.

· *The student MAY have an extended period of time (TBD) to make up the class and or classwork.. .
eLearning (All students fully online)
"Students will attend all scheduled classes virtually either through live-streamed classes or asynchronous work. Teachers will work with GMC's Leadership Team to determine what method of instruction is most rigorous and reasonable for their content. Prior to instruction, teachers will spend ample time explaining the format and tools used for their class and will make themselves available for parents/students needing additional help to access materials."
- Reasonable due dates for work will be set by teachers. Issues relating to due dates will be considered on a case by case basis. No grade floors will be applied to assignments.
- Students who are ill will be able to access all required work online and will be given due date extensions per GMC/teacher/state eLearning policy.
*Any eLearning this school year will be very different from this past spring. Our expectations will be high, like they are when we’re in the classroom, there will be deadlines for assignments, no floored grades, etc.
***No one with any symptoms of illness/COVID-19 should come to the school****
Positive Covid-19 test:
GMC will follow DHEC’s guidance that can be found at:
