Ozzie Reading Club-Cougars Reading Club! Calling ALL readers--All Lincoln Leopards
Starting next week, Lincoln students will have the opportunity to participate in the Cougars Reading Club. In this reading incentive program, students track their reading progress around a symbolic baseball diamond. Every two weeks, students who meet their grade-level reading goal will advance a base. If they meet the goal for each of the four two-week sessions, they are said to “hit a home run” and will be eligible for rewards, including a Cougars ticket for a game on May 13th, 2022. Families can purchase additional tickets in the spring for $14 a ticket. Be on the lookout for a handout explaining the program in greater detail and a form to verify your student's progress. The first check-in will be in two weeks on Friday, January 28th.
i-Ready Winter Diagnostic Reports
Attention All Parents/Guardians:
The i-Ready Winter Diagnostic Reports for both Math and Reading are being sent home with your child today, so be on the lookout. You will find the following information included with the two diagnostic reports:
- A letter from Mr. Dave Chiszar, Director of Assessment and Accountability, explains the i-Ready diagnostic report this is linked below.
Should you have any additional questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out to your child’s classroom teacher or me. These are used by our teams to make instructional decisions and to identify students who need more support, extensions, or those that may be exited from intervention cycles. Letters will be sent home next week with students who will be beginning, continuing, or exiting academic interventions. This next intervention cycle will begin the week after next.
EMPOWER updates
During the month of January, students in Empower are going to be experiencing a new module! Students in Kindergarten through fifth grades are going to be delving into the areas of communication. They will be utilizing various media tools in the Show it Off module!
Lincoln is excited to virtually welcome authors Greg Pizzoli and Aisha Saeed!
On Monday, Feb. 7 at 10AM, Greg Pizzoli will be speaking to our kindergarten through 3rd grade students. Mr. Pizzoli is the creator of the Baloney & Friends series as well as a three-time Theodor Seuss Geisel Award recipient for The Watermelon Seed (Medal winner), The Book Hog (Honor book), and Good Night Owl (Honor book).
Students enrolled in PM kindergarten are welcome to join us for this special event. PM kindergarten students who wish to attend should be dropped off at the front office at 9:55AM on Monday, Feb. 7. They will need to be picked up from the front office at the conclusion of the presentation, which we anticipate will be at approximately 10:45AM. Students should return to Lincoln as usual for their regular school day. The students will watch the presentation from the LRC and will be supervised by LRC staff. If your PM kindergartener will be joining us, please let karin.cranmer@d303.org know in advance. Thank you!
On Tuesday, Feb. 8 at 10AM, Aisha Saeed will be speaking to our 4th and 5th grade students. Ms. Saeed is the author of the forthcoming book Omar Rising and is a Pakistani American writer, teacher, and attorney.. She also wrote the New York Times bestseller Amal Unbound, Written in the Stars, Yes No Maybe So (with Becky Albertalli), and Diana and the Island of No Return.
Families will have the opportunity to order signed books from both authors. Watch your student's backpack in the coming weeks for the order forms.
