PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
Dear Bidwell Families,
With just over three weeks left in the semester, we have officially hit the home stretch. Here are some quick tips for helping your student finish the semester strong:
(1) Check their planner each night: if there’s no homework, their planner should say say so. There should ALWAYS be something written in their planner for each class. Want to keep closer tabs? Log in to Aeries Parent Portal and see up-to-date grades and assignment completion information. That’s easily the best way you can help your student learn at home.
(2) AR: Accelerated Reader goals are worth 10% of their grade. Check in with your student to make sure they’re on track.
(3) Math Homework: you don’t have to be a math major to help your student learn at home. It’s rare that they don’t have math homework as it is a subject that requires a particular amount of practice. If your student is struggling, send the teacher a quick email about online math supports you can help your student access at home.
Please keep your eye out for an invitation to our first Family Appreciation Luncheon on 12/13 during your student’s lunch period. Each student is encouraged to invite one special family member for a complimentary fancy lunch—Holiday style. Fresh carved turkey and ham with potatoes au gratin are part of the menu. Don’t miss it! It’s also a great time to check out some of the cool things your students have done in their classes this semester. I hope to see you there!

I try not to blow up your phones and emails with unnecessary communications, but I do like to send out a quick Remind text every now and then. We have 293 parents on Remind as of today and I’d love to see that number jump to 500 by the end of the semester. Please click the link below to join. You can also use Remind to send me a quick text about any questions/concerns you might be having. I’m always looking for ways we can get more parent and family input to make Bidwell the best possible experience for our kids.

Your kids are a joy to be around every day. I loved my Thanksgiving holiday, but I also looked forward to seeing their smiling faces when we returned on Monday. It is an honor to serve you and your students.
Respectfully,
David McKay

LOVE POTION #9
Move over Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, Bidwell drama students in Ms. Purl's class created original love potions! Students crafted their "potions" and designed their bottles based on Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream.
