Unit of Inquiry - How We Express Ourselves
Central Idea: Creating and responding to the arts can develop understanding of ourselves and the world around us.
Lines of Inquiry :
- Creative processes in an art form, e.g. dance, coding, painting, sculpture, drama
- Relationships between artist and audience
- How artists continually reflect to improve their craft
- Action people take as a response to The Arts
Year 6 Exhibition
There are many places around Hong Kong you can take your child to find out more about their art form. Check out this link for information about some current exhibitions:

‘Light Up in the Dark’
· What to use?
A3 sized paper (you can pick up A3 drawing quality paper from Mr Roscoe Rm. 232. (Please don’t use low quality photocopy paper for your piece.)
You can also use art canvas/ canvas-board of varying sizes or A2 paper (at your own expense) if you prefer.
You can choose your preferred media to use. Eg. Drawing, pastels, charcoal, painting, printing, collage, photography, mixed-media etc.
· What to do?
THINK: Think about all the different ways of expressing the theme ‘Light Up in the Dark’ to an audience.
PLAN: Brainstorm some ideas of your images beforehand and make sketches of how you can best show them.
SELECT: Choose your best idea to work on using a media and the skills and techniques that you are most confident with. Think about the best use of space of your paper/ composition etc.
ACHIEVE: take your time, work on it carefully/skillfully –achieve your best!
SUBMIT: keep your work flat and safe, submit it on time or before the deadline, clearly write your full name, class and title of your work on the back.

During Exhibition, children will be responsible for organising their own home learning in relation to their inquiry.
Please check the school newsletter or your child's diary for Swim sessions as they will change from week to week.
Important Dates:
- WIS transition day for groups DEF (rescheduled) May 19th
- WIS Pastoral Day (for all children attending WIS next year) June 3rd.
- Holiday and CPD day - school closed for children June 9th and 10th
- Exhibition evenings- (attend 1only) June 15th and 16th
