I hope you were able to enjoy a restful and relaxing weekend! I am looking forward to being back with you this week. Thanks to all of you for the sweet emails, texts and cards over the past week during the loss of my grandmother. I am so appreciative. Have a GREAT week ahead!

Our Week at a Glance
- Faculty Meeting in Billy Miller's room from 3:45 until 4:45 (food will be ready at 3:30, bus wait teachers join as you are able). We will do a whole group data review then break into a K-2 plus 3-5 ELA group and a 3-5 math group for some additional work.
- KH in a training from 12-2 at ASC
- Girl Scouts- Interest meeting 6pm in the cafeteria
Tuesday
- Kingsport Mets Night! Join us at 6:30!
- KH and BH in training from 1:30-3:30 at ASC
Wednesday
- KH and BH in training from 8-11 at ASC
- Instructional Assistant Meeting in the conference room at 1pm- Ashley will be teaching them about Fountas & Pinnell resources.
Thursday
- Collaboratives
Friday
- PLC Meetings in the conference room during planning. We will break into Math and ELA groups to continue work from our Faculty Meeting.

PD Opportunities this week
- Tuesday, August 27th - Number Talks (3-8), 3:45-5:00 at ASC in the Watauga Room (remember that KCS expects 3-5 number talks per week) If you attend this session you can request a free copy of the Number Talks book.
- Wednesday, August 28th - ACCESS Cohort first meeting. See additional info in next section.
- Thursday, August 29th - ELA Curriculum Collaboratives 3:45-5:00 at Johnson Elementary School
ACCESS COHORT 2019-20
The All Children Challenged and Equipped for Success (ACCESS) Cohort will participate in learning during six sessions beginning in August 2019 through February 2020 (dates are included in the table below). The sessions will be held from 3:45-5:00 PM in the TN Room at ASC.
Guiding Questions:
1. How can leaders create a culture of access for all students?
2. What does equity and access look like in the classroom?
3. How can we begin to put our beliefs into practice?

Reminders
- The Kingsport Mets Night for Adams and Roosevelt is coming up THIS TUESDAY, August 27th. We will be sending tickets home with students on Tuesday (make sure to send them). Also remind your parents via Bloomz. Our students will be performing the National Anthem. PLEASE JOIN US if you can!
- Math manipulatives - Do not get rid of manipulatives without talking to an InDes or Admin. Math materials are assigned to classrooms and schools, not teachers.
- Continue to greet your students at your classroom entrance every day!
- Make sure to utilize Bloomz for family communications
- Neighborhood doors should remain LOCKED at all times as a safety precaution.
- All teachers will have access to Nearpod beginning September 1st. More info on training sessions will be shared soon.
