NC Symphony: Virtual Resources
The N.C. Symphony on Tuesday started sharing free music education materials to teachers and families as we're all hunkered down during the coronavirus pandemic.
The symphony has released a digital broadcast of a North Carolina Symphony Education Concert and its companion materials, to support teachers who are engaging their students virtually and parents who are continuing their children’s education at home, according to a press release. The online content is available free of charge for students, teachers, parents, and audiences of all ages to access and enjoy across North Carolina and worldwide.
These materials may be accessed at ncsymphony.org/virtual with password 1932.
New Math Support Schedule
Granville Academy K-5 & 6-8 Family Support/Outreach Groups
K-5 & 6-8 Granville Academy families:
There are two Facebook groups that are set up for GA Pirates and families in grades K-5 & 6-8 (as parents and students) to come together and get to know each other better. The idea behind the pages is to have somewhere to go for support (help with assignments that may be confusing) or to plan a fun outing with the group ("Hey, anyone want to go to the park and have lunch this Friday?").
Please note the pages are set up to protect the privacy of students & families. Only GA Pirates are allowed to join. Please search for the groups on Facebook!
We are looking forward to getting to know our GA Pirates!
GA Box Tops for Education
Granville Academy is continuing to participate in the Box Top for Education program this year!
Please view the flyer below for updated information on how to participate and earn money for our school.
Information Grades K-5
Connect with Mrs. Phillips
Mrs. Phillips is looking for ways to connect and engage her learners at home during this time! Please follow and connect with her on Instagram!
Information Grades 6-8
Message from 6-8 Teachers:
We are missing are students and we appreciate all of your support and patience during this major time of uncertainty.
The assignment checklists are included below and have also posted them on Google Classroom for students to access.
Continue Working
- All students should continue working on Edgenuity unless they have been given alternative assignments by their teachers
- Students who are doing alternative assignments should complete as soon as they can and email them to the appropriate teacher. If these are book/paper assignments, you may take pictures of the pages and email them. They may also be completed in Google Docs and shared.
Need Help?
- If students are behind and have not already spoken with their teachers about ways to catch up on alternative assignments, they need to AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. We are all here to help students be successful and want them to be, but we cannot complete the work for them.
- Students who need any help with any subject can reach out to their teachers for help through email or Google Hangout Chat
- Ms. Russell, our wonderful TA, is also available to help students with their work. She can also be reached through email or Google Hangout Chat. Her email is russelln1@gcs.k12.nc.us.
Google Classroom
- Mrs. Young posts important announcements for students on her Google Classroom so students need to make sure they are checking for those announcements regularly so they don't miss anything.
Instagram
- Mrs. Young has joined Instagram for students and parents to keep up with whats going on! And to also see what Mrs. Young is up to while working from home! Feel free to follow her @youngs_scientists. If there is certain content you would like to see Mrs. Young post, feel free to reach out to her!
Virtual Field Trips
- I know many students (and staff) were disappointed that we were not able to go on our field trip to the NC Zoo earlier this month. However, many zoos and aquariums (including the NC Zoo) are doing virtual field trips and Facebook Live events! I would encourage you to look them up because they are really cool! If you need some help finding some, please reach out to Mrs. Young!
PLEASE reach out to us if you have any questions, concerns, or needs. We may not see you all in person right now, but we are still here to help you and your children.
