Picture Day Make-ups: Monday, 12/3
Picture Day Make-ups are Monday, December 3rd. If you'd like for your scholar's photo to be included in our upcoming yearbook, this will be the last opportunity to have their photo taken. Outside photos will not be included in class pictures.
Please remind & encourage your scholar to come looking their best and in complete school uniform. No headbands, scarves, wraps, or hats. Only the school sanctioned sweater or fleece jackets are allowed. No hoodies or other jackets.

PEANUT/NUT ALLERGY ALERT
School Climate Survey
Annually, OSSE completes a school climate survey at DC schools, which also includes two days of classroom observations. Our classroom observations took place on Wednesday, November 28th.
In addition to the school-wide survey and classroom observations, OSSE would like to hear from our families as well. Please take the time to complete the Parent School Climate Survey using the link below.

Today, 11/30 is the last day to provide your input, your opinion, YOUR VOICE on what matters most to you and your family.

School Calendar Update
Winter Break is December 24, 2018 - January 1, 2019.
School is back in session on Wednesday, January 2, 2019.
Check-in for all scholars is Wednesday morning, 6 a.m. - 7:30 a.m.
The professional development day that WAS scheduled for Monday, January 2, 2019
has been CHANGED to Friday, January 18, 2019. School will be closed for all scholars.
Early check-out will be Thursday, January 17, 2019 @ 3:30 p.m.
The school calendar has been revised to reflect these updates.

Family Volunteers Needed - SEE NEW ADDITION IN BOLD
The available times are Sundays, Mondays, & Fridays for any two hour window, 6-8 p.m. (excluding Nov. 23rd, 25th, 26th , 30th and Dec 2nd , 3rd, 7th , 17th 24th–31st)
Volunteers are also need for:
- Dinner duty support (Mon-Thurs 5:00-7:00 p.m.)
- School store support (Mon-Thurs 5:00-8:00p.m.)
- Hallway supervision (Mon-Thurs 4:00-9:00p.m.)
- Check-in (7-9 p.m.)
- Check-out (3:30-5:30 p.m.)
- Holiday decorating between Nov 25-Dec 9th
- Cosmetology, hair, & skin care [for 7th & 8th grade girls] (Mondays 4:45-5:30 p.m.)

MAP GROWTH Assessment - SAT Prep - AccuPlacer Boot Camp: 12/3-7
During the week of December 3rd, grades 7th - 10th will take the MAP GROWTH Assessment. The MAP GROWTH Assessment is the predictive measure for the PARCC Assessment.
The Junior Class will take SAT Prep and the Senior Class will participate in the AccuPlacer Boot Camp. AccuPlacer is a practice college entrance exam.
Please encourage your scholar to do his or her best for this week.

PGC Family Night
Freshmen families & families of PGC Leaders are invited to our first PGC Family Night.
Monday, December 10, 2018 - 6 p.m.
There will lots of fun & games. Dinner will be catered by Chipotle Mexican Grille. DJ Nutridge will provide the music.
Come and learn what being a PGC Leader is all about and connect with other freshmen families. Let's come together to support and encourage our scholars to soar higher.

Holiday Candy Gram Sale - 12/10-17

Starting December 10th, PGC Leaders will be selling Holiday Candy Grams.
Candy grams can be purchased for $1, $3, or $5.
Delivery of Candy Grams will be delivered December 21st.

Holiday Showcase - DATE CHANGE - 12/20/18, 2 p.m.
Please note the date for the Holiday Showcase has changed.
The showcase will take place on Thursday, December 20th @ 2 p.m.
Join us for an afternoon of music, dance, & artistry at our annual Holiday Showcase on December 20th @ 2 p.m, in the Adams Gymnasium.
Our scholar-artists been working hard all semester for this event. Please come and show your support.
Families: Please note that the music class is required to perform. The attire requirements for all participating choir members are as follows:
Girls: All black dress or black skirt and black or white top/NO PANTS, NO SNEAKERS
Boys: Black slacks or dress pants, black shoes, white dress shirt and black tie; NO SNEAKERS

MANDATORY MEETING: Marshall Hall - Freshmen Touch Point - Friday, 11/30 OR Sunday, 12/2
Families/Guardians/Caregivers of 9th grade young men are REQUIRED to come to the first floor of Marshall Hall during check-out on November 30th or check-in on December 2nd to receive and complete important information for an exciting new program that is being offered to scholars.
It is imperative that the necessary documents are completed to ensure your scholar has access to an exciting new enrichment program, exposure trips to Wizards games and cultural events, and opportunities to interact with professional athletes and businessman through the DMV PAL Mentoring Program.

M.E.T.E.O.R. Experiential Research Project - Rising Juniors Only
METEOR provides talented students high school students the opportunity to participate in an experiential research project at Children’s National Medical Center and its Children’s Research Institute. This eight week summer experience is designed to encourage students to take the required steps toward careers in STEM and biomedical research fields.

Last Food Pantry Distribution of 2018
The Episcopal Church of the Atonement will conduct it's last food pantry distribution of year on Saturday December 22nd, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The Atonement Food Pantry provides FREE FOOD for individuals of families in need in the Capitol View area. Anyone needing help is eligible. No questions asked. First come, first served, while supplies last.
