Safe Driving in the School Zone
King Street can be very busy during morning drop-off and afternoon pick-up! According to a 2017 study by Safe Kids Worldwide, approximately 100 children in the United States are killed each year while walking to or from school others sustain injuries as a result of school zone crashes.
Please help to keep our children safe in our school zone by following the following tips:
- Slow down. Speed limits are lower in the school zone.
- Stop for buses. Do not pass a stopped school bus from behind. It is against the law if the bus sign is extended and the bus is stopped to load or unload children.
- Watch for pedestrians. Take extra care to look out for children - they can be unpredictable!
- Do not load or unload children on King Street. All students should be dropped off by the main entrance of the school.
- Give yourself extra time if you need to drive through the school zone. Being in a hurry in the school zone is never safe.
- Avoid distractions like using a cellphone or looking for something in your car while driving in the school zone.

Final Notice: Immunizations for 7th Graders
At this point, each student should have an updated immunization record on file at King Philip Middle School. Please realize that these records are required by the state upon a child's entry into 7th grade. Students without updated records will be receiving a letter of notification in the mail. All immunization records are due to the school by Friday, November 1, and should be faxed to our health office at 508-298-0203.
If you do not wish to provide the immunization record, you must (1) have your physician certify in writing that your child's health would be endangered by such vaccinations or (2) provide a note written by you stating that such a vaccination or vaccinations conflict with your religious beliefs. This documentation must be provided to the KPMS nurse's office.
